  • Today we're trying out a nice mouthpiece from Momo, a boutique maker in Japan. I originally found their mouthpieces from buying a 60* bass model - which I loved, and decided to source a tenor mouthpiece. I found the 52E* and wanted to try it out - it does some things very well. The * on the mouthpiece stands for the Momo acoustic treatment - it's been tricky to find more info about these pieces but I'll update this as I do.
Specs! This is actually from their euphonium line (no wonder I like it so much!) It has a 25.8 mm inner rim diameter, a 7.1 mm throat diameter, and a very deep cup. With sharp rims, it gives a much tighter feel on the chops than my LI Brass 550E which is similarly a euphonium style mouthpiece with a 25.50 inner rim.
The Momo mouthpiece really locks you into place with a nice sound - it does a lot of things very well. It's on the lighter side, and up there with my favorite mouthpieces.

The Momo mouthpiece responds very well, with a warm and very precise sound, and it also delivers a wider range of sound with great clarity.

Me parece a mi que la boquilla Momo tiene un sonido más cálido y amplio.

my SR550 is out on loan with a student currently, but that's a good idea down the road. i do have a comparison between the 550E and the SR550 on my 550E review, and separate review of the EON test model as well. It'd be nice to have them in one place though
