- This is a review of the Athearn Genesis HO Scale SD70M with Tsunami DCC Sound. This is a special locomotive because it was used in the Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 2023 run. This locomotive is numbered 4015. In the video you will see this running with the Broadway Limited HO scale Big Boy with Walthers heritage passenger cars. You will also see the Scale Trains excursion tenders. I soon hope to start building an O scale heritage excursion train with a Lionel Vision Line Big Boy and Lionel 21” passenger cars.

Very nice model, I think Athearn has done a great job on all their SD70 variants. I have the 1976 "One" scheme. I've been trying to find the one you have in your video with the yellow sill but I didn't have luck, so congrats on getting one haha.
I agree. I have a couple of DC powered SD70Ms from 2019 and those are nice too. That “one” scheme is nice! Oh dude i thought I was going to pay over $400 for 4015 on eBay if one ever came available. I luckily found it for $284. Hopefully athearn re-releases this road number haha. Thank you for watching!

Oh. Seems I was really lucky. I saw the video of this loco from Darryl Cruis from the Everton Subdivision and ordered one by Lombard. Didn’t know it was so special.
Nice! Yeah they definitely flew off the shelves. It’s interesting you say that; in the past I have bought models and had no idea of their significance. Great looking train. I have a similar locomotive # 4000 from Genesis, and one Rio Grande SD 70ACe, one SD 80MAC, one SD90MAC (NS ex CR), one GE ES44AC. More to come. Looking for a big boy. It will happen. I also have a series of UP passenger cars, NOT Walters, most are ConCor. I love Genesis locos with Tsunami.
Nice collection! I do love the SD70ACe in the Rio Grande scheme. BLI just released the big boy. Trainworld still has a few if you’re looking at BLI. Rivarossi released some a while back. Trainworld has them in stock with sound. Rivarossi did well on their rendition of 4014. I agree Genesis models are great especially with Tsunami sound. Thank you for watching!
@@modelrailroadingthesouthwest The SD 70ACe Southern Pacific Daylight is on order, I missed the Katy. I try to buy on pre-order. Hope Genesis will re-issue the Big Boy 4014. I have to slow-down a bit money wise. Haaaa!
Athearn did ok on this release. They did however neglect to apply the steam program emblem on both sides of the lower nose. After market decals to the rescue
I did notice those decals were not on the model, although I think it may have been modeled by Athearn when it was ran in 2021 in the Big Boy Excursion train. In 2021 it didn’t have those decals. You’re right though, good thing for decals. I found some on eBay that I’m going to get because I want to model 4015 as it was in 2023. Thank you for watching!
The one real OG’s want is 4091. Truly the most legendary of the sd70’s.
