    Hi CodeNMore - this has to be a first for me....commenting upon a video! - have to say, im really getting into your Beginner Electronics. I am actually 44, ive always been interested in electronics and have opened up many products to play around with, and always having many extra bits left over after putting it all back together! - I have more recently started learning more, and even though I know some of the basics, ive started off with video 1 and now just watched 10. At first, I did not think I would pick much up, ...how wrong. There maybe parts that I glazed over ..a little, but I still gain more knowledge than what I started with. I note you do other videos, however please carry on with this series. I just cannot believe you dont have more subscribers and/or this should be placed into some form of education program, as the way you conduct yourself, and explain matters is excellent. Hoping part 11 is not too far away! - thanks!

    Very Good videos for absolute Beginner learning electronics . Video#1 to Video#10 not suitable for younger generation because they already learnt in Lower Secondary School Science Physics . Younger generation will feel Boring ! Starting from Video#11 will attract their curiousity and wishing to learn more. Eventhough the videos started 4 years ago , a bit outdated . But I see it very encouraging for layman/absolute Beginner . You are Very good teacher. In future should introducing modern day Ai-Iot + Vhdl/Verilog' FPGA+ Vr/Ar/Mr/Xr .

    Hello CodeNMore. I have some knowledge ability with electronics as I used to study it in the mail. (Long ago.) I never did get a degree of sorts, but have been interested it in for many years. I did get into working with electronics back in 1995 and was constructing Generators for Ranchers mostly, converting Gasoline engines over to propane power, and setting the engine up on a frame with a usually, 6000 watt generator. I made up the controls (brain boxes and components for auto starting to pump water from a well for cattle out in the boonies. They would use the float system, so when a float dropped below a specified height it would attempt a start. 10 seconds per crank. If for some reason the engine did not start, it would rest for ~ 10 seconds, then try again. If for some reason it did not start with three tries, it would shut down.
    I am writing just for a get go on what I am learning here. On the Breadboards, as I am seeing your explanation, I understand the power strips, (top and bottom,) each supply their half of the Breadboard? Now, when you were explaining the rows in the two sections in the middle, and relating "if you put a wire in two of the different rows, or across the center, these holes are not connected" I do bevel you were explaining prior to the wire this to be true? As, when the wire was inserted in two unconnected holes, it would make those holes connect, thus supplying power across the entire board section or rows with the wire. Did I get this correct? (The wire would then become the conductor.)

  • @AdamWirth
    @AdamWirth 8 років тому

    Hey CodeNMore! I'm curious, why did you have to use a wire to finish the circuit? Could you have routed the cathode to the resistor and then back to the power-rail? It seems like connecting the resistor to another column and then using a wire to route that back to the power-rail is one extra step. Thank you for this series! You're quick, to the point, and a good speaker!

    • @CodeNMore
      @CodeNMore  8 років тому

      +Adam Wirth I easily could have connected it directly to power, I just decided to use a wire (mainly just to "verify" to people how the breadboard rows are connected).

  • @Cruz0e

    At 6:06 did the LED have to be put in the positive spot, or could you switch it around. (Basically, is it necessary to start with the positive side. Could you not of plugged the negative side of the LED into the negative part of the power rail and then put the positive part of the LED into the main bread board?) Any help is appreciated.

    I got a question. Up to the last point, I didnt know where you would have connected the last wire. What happens if you connect it to a positive hole on the power strip? And why? Thanks, I devoured the first episodes all together and this is my very first doubt!

    It would be helpful if you added links to web sites that offer the best buys on components like resistors, bread boards etc. I miss the local Radio Shacks that almost always had what one needed in electronics.

    Hi @codeNMore. Thanks a lot! That was brilliant! I have a question. So the resistor is plugged into negative here. But as per your 'water pressure' example shouldn't (or best practise) to connect the resistor before current get's to LED? or does it not matter as exceess current will be taken by the resistor when it get's out of the other side on the led? Thanks!

      Never mind. I think I got it. The current throught the cirucit is same! But please do add your thoughts here too!

      @@53nat0r There's a bit more to it than that, but yeah, you can generally put the resistor on either end. There are fancy LEDs that can display multiple colours, and they have one lead for each colour and then either a common anode or common cathode. As such an LED is basically three LEDs held together with gaffer tape, the different colours have different forward voltages, so you don't put the LED on the common terminal, but on the terminals matching the colours.
