    I just got started with moss poles after watching your channel! I only have an Epipremnum pinnatum albo actively growing on a moss pole currently, but the leaves are definitely sizing up. Absolutely love growing aroids on moss poles and you've been such an inspiration!

    Today I did some overdue plant chores and put 5 plants on moss poles. It was my first time making a moss pole. I drew inspiration from you, SPG. I can’t wait for my anthurium Magnificum to get large. You make me want an El Chico Red, those red backs!

    Jan, I love your content and I adore your plants. But moss poles are not for me. I work two jobs and have 100+ houseplants. I have found in my experience moss poles are quite messy and high maintenance. They just do not fit in my routine. I grow most of my plants in pon/semi hydroponics and I trellis the climbing ones. Maybe one day I will try again, but I doubt it😆Thank you for sharing your amazing collection.❤️

    Great vid as always! I had to reset my mosspole journey when i moved to sweden end of Feb but now have a Mint Adansonii getting to a nice size (80cm on the pole without the pot and 20cm leaf length) with the patterning really coming out finally. Also using plastic backed since then and mixing some bark into it, saving some moss, but its really great with moisture now compared to previous attempts!

      what do you mean with "its really great with moisture now" ? because I wanted to try adding bark to the pole to maybe help with the aeration as I experienced root rot with my poles. Do you think the bark would help for it?

    A couple of feelings here and there watching this video.😊
    I really love your passion about plants, they look so happy living with you!
    By the way you describe them, definitely a proud plant parent and I can almost tell who is the golden child and who is the middle one among them😂😂😂and I love when you’re being all mama bear in a second, worried and grab the plant with you and put it into a more heavier pot, talking to yourself all this time, that’s exactly what we do when we have plants 😅😅😅
    You’re such a positive influence, like what a happy plant brings to your life, you spread it to us, so thank you for that! I enjoyed the video so so much!
    And last but not least, stop touching the sexy big leaves🤣🤣!!

    Wow, I just love your plants! I’m shocked at the pothos most of all! I had no idea it could get that big! I’m a sucker for variegation so you’ve inspired my next plant wish! I’m actually new to moss poles, and watched all your videos/ tutorials on them for my melonocrisis 😂 . It’s actually doing quite well for now.. fingers crossed! A lot of trial, and a lot more error for me! Thank you for being so positive and real, it shows through your videos and makes them my favorite to enjoy and learn from! Thank you so much! PS I’d love to trade your winter for my summer, it’s going to be 107 Fahrenheit / 41.667 in Celsius in Los Angeles today! I’m dying! So are the plants, it’s more humid here than the desert to the north, I guess the plants appreciate that, but I don’t! 🌱🥵

    Every time I watch any of your videos, I am so motivated and excited by your plants and what you have achieved with them.
    I am finally hopping on the Moss pole train and have about 10 started growing right.
    I live at 2300m elevation in high dessert of colorado in US which makes me curios what will be achievable. I have a hmidifer in every room of my house, and it takes about 10 gallons of water a day to keep me at 65% - 70%.

      Conditions are just as dry at Boise, ID USDA Zone 6 annual precipitation 12 inches = 29.5 cm. It's very tough for trees there since it is cold and dry in the winter and hot and dry in the summer. Ironically, Boise was named Les Bois by French explorers when they came to the Boise River edged with Cottonwood trees after crossing burning desert and is now nicknamed the City of Trees. I had the most success outdoors with two Eucalyptus neglectas (Omeo gum) planted in my yard. Indoors, I had a pristine aloe vera plant sited under a skylight. It only needed watering once every two months.

    Catching up on your videos after taking a break for a few months from youtube lol. I just wanna say your Monstera Albo is a Monstera deliciosa 'small form'. M. deliciosa, both large and small form, has the ruffles around the geniculum, M. borsigiana doesn't get those ruffles. The difference between 'small form' and 'large form' is a notable one, but its just a difference in growth habit. SF tends to climb more, and has those wider internodal spaces, LF grows more like a tree tbh and has very, very tight internodes. It will still have those tight internodes even in lower light, I can say that from experience growing one lol.

    Beautiful 10/10! My Manjula Pothos sizing up best on moss pole, while El Choco has remained very Rubrijuvenile in a small clump at the base of pole.😹😻

  • @demidron.
    @demidron. Місяць тому

    If you had a really lush pole with lots and lots of stems, you could enjoy all stages of the P. rubrijuvenile on the same pole. The big leaves look nicely spaced out and would allow some light in to the immature stems, but probably block enough to slow down their maturation. This is the kind of thing that's happening with my E. pinnatum, especially because I did a chop, planted the top next to the bottom and extended the bottom because the biggest stem had gone over the top of the top pole by the time I got around to it (I was moving). All the semi-mature stems are reshooting in the middle, the big mature one is attaching to the extension and there are random immature shoots coming from lower down too, so there's kind of the full palette of maturity.

    I'm so thankful for this video. I've been having problems with my monstera "growing off the pole". Now I see how you do it. It is amazing that I truly learn from each and every video! Thank You!
    Question: would you please give us the approximate depth (from pole to front of the leaf) of your mature Philodendron Splendid?
    You ask for content ideas: Since you touched on the topic of repotting into larger pots before you place it onto a pole (Queen Anthurium), I'd be interested on how you judge this, along with why some of your huge beauties stay in small pots.
    Thank you again. Your truly a master!

  • @stephanierene3537
    @stephanierene3537 3 місяці тому

    Here's a tip to help you identify if your Monstera Deliciosa Albo is small or large form. Just examine the petiole sheaths and if they are less than 50% of the size of the petiole than it's a large form and if they are larger than 50% of the petiole it's a small form. Of course this isn't accurate for juvenile plants though.
    P. S. I love your videos and admire your plant collection!
    Happy growing!

    I really like the obliqua too, I really hope I can get it to a mature side, and I don't doubt you can! I always loved it but couldn't afford it, but I finally got one for $15! Now I'm looking for other forms, mainly Bolivian and surnames, I've heard they're really fast, and they flower younger and have red berries.

Love that. I also have a Sharoniae and Esmereldence on poles, but still quite small on their first pole section. Will be trying out a plastic backed pole soon for the first time. We will see how I feel about adding plastic to my houseplants.

  • @DasKaddelchen
    @DasKaddelchen 3 місяці тому

    I recently watched a video where someone explained why some plants are red on the back of the leaves. The light is reflected by the red on the back of the leaf so it passes through the leaf more often for photosynthesis. So the more mature leaves probably lose the red cause they are getting more light in nature climbing up the trees for example.

    Respectfully but I have a strong opinion based on my previous experiences - fuck Melanochrysum. This asshole got everything I could give it and still didn't grow leaves, just a long stem and when a leaf appeared it just rotted. I grew my glorious to huge leaves without a single tear right next to it so I'll stick to that (and like 10 other plants on mosspoles, same conditions). Some plants are just ungrateful bastards.
    Yours is a cutie patootie tho, congrats!
