  • Hello, everyone! Welcome to our kitchen. Today, I am going to share with you a delicious and easy recipe for Tomato Thokku. Tomato Thokku is a spicy and tangy South Indian condiment that goes well with many dishes. So, let's get started!
    Start by washing about 8 ripe tomatoes and 8 green chillies
    Heat the pan and add 1 tspoon of urad dal, 2 tspoons of Cumin Seeds and 1 tspoon of fenugreek seeds
    Saute them well for a few seconds until they release their aroma
    let's add our chopped tomatoes, you can chop it in watever shape you like, ultimately we will grind this to get a paste
    add green chillies,
    I have taken 2 big size onions,
    Im adding a tspoon of turmeric , 15-20 garlic pods,
    About 2 spoons of Rock Salt, I use rock salt for most of the recipes as it adds better taste
    Add a cup of Coriander Leaves,
    a bulb size tamarind to the pan.
    Close the lid, Let it cook well in low flame until the tomatoes become mushy.
    Allow it to cool down , and grind it to fine paste
    Now, in a pan add about a cup of mustered oil, a tspoon of mustered seeds, urad dal and let them splutter for few seconds. Now add curry leaves
    Add the puree to the hot oil
    add the remaining ingredients
    1. Asafotida
    2. 2 tspoons of Chilly and Coriander powder
    3. Lastly adding few garlic cloves and red chillies is optional
    And there you have it! Our delicious and flavorful Tomato Thokku is ready to be served. You can enjoy it with a variety of dishes like idli, dosa, or even rice. It's a versatile condiment that will surely add a punch to your meals
