यह गाना उन गानों में से हैं जिन्होंने मेरे दिल को धड़कना सिखाया! जब हम कॉलेज में पढ़ते थे तो वह दौर कुमार सानू का था! मेरी उम्र के नौजवान रफी को नहीं सुनते थे! एक दिन मैं और मेरी दोस्त जूस की दुकान पर बैठकर जूस पी रहे थे! तभी वहां आइसक्रीम की रेहड़ी पर यह गाना चल रहा था! मेरी दोस्त ने जूस पीते हुए जैसे ही होठों पर जीभ घुमाई, तभी मुझे सुनाई दिया तेरे होंठ क्या है गुलाबी कँवल है! मैंने जैसे ही अपनी दोस्त के चेहरे की तरफ देखा वह शरमा गई उसे भी यह लाइनें सुनाई दे रही थी! मुझे भी उन दिनों रफी के गानों का शौक नहीं था और ना ही मैं उनके बारे में जानता था! बस यह लाइने मेरे जहन में बैठ गई और कई दोस्तों और दुकानदारों से पूछने के बाद मुझे इस गाने की कैसेट मिली! यह घटना है 1994 की! आज भी यह गाना मुझे उन सुनहरी पलों को याद दिला देता है और वो मंजर मेरी आँखो के सामने आ जाता है!
