- Columbia University canceled its main commencement event slated for May 15 after weeks of turmoil on campus.
“Our students emphasized that these smaller-scale, school-based celebrations are most meaningful to them and their families,” the New York-based school said in a statement Monday. “We will focus our resources on those school ceremonies and on keeping them safe, respectful, and running smoothly.”

If I was student who spent my time there doing what i needed to do to make it to graduation. I would be pissed and protesting against the protesters on my campus. Someone somewhere needs to stand up to these protesters.

Do you know how important commencement is to the students that worked so hard for four years? It was to me. It was a culmination of all my hard work and now it’s being taken away.

Commencement is not a requirement to receive your degree. It's not an important event. I'd be okay with that.
