  • The health and wealth gospel is wrong. A faithful person isn't distinguished by abundant material blessings. A faithful person is one who can survive any drought, because their root goes down deep into the water of God. They stand out in this desolate world, because they have placed their trust in God, not in the trappings of this world.
In the Old Testament, we examine Psalm 1, which warns us to choose our company well and meditate on God's word day and night. Then we will be like a tree planted beside a stream that produces fruit and does not wither. When we pursue righteousness, God promises to superintend our lives and keep us from destruction.
In the New Testament, we discover that Jesus may have had Psalm 1 on his mind when he delivered the sermon on the mount. This seems to be true in the Beatitudes in Matthew 5 and also later in Matthew 7. We also clearly see that God will lead all who place their trust in him through any difficulty that life throws their way.
This is another episode in the series entitled, "Who Is Jesus Christ, and Why Do I Need Him?" Join father and son, Timothy and Caleb, as they explore the books of the Old Testament to discover the main attribute of God revealed in each. Then listen as they survey the New Testament to see how Jesus Christ exemplifies each attribute in his person.

The word of God is reading us is kind of like: Hebrews 4:12
... "For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."
