Kudos! You are in one of the most beautiful job out there. Teachers/Professors should be the most highly paid individuals in a country, not politicians.
Very impressive young lady! So proud of the fact that you went abroad to study, and came back home to apply the knowledge you had acquired! All the best in your career!
Nice one, keep up Winnie! Thanks to your parents for saving all those years to support you, coz many Winnies out there have the will but lack the way...
I THINK the problem is most parents heap all their expectations on theirs kids when abroad you just want to earn money to sendback home instead of having an open mind what one can achieve long term.
Returning to kenya after a stint abroad is pretty hard....I tried 5 years ago. Now, I given up!. Good for those who are able to adjust....my issue was things and friends had moved on! But by end of day, it is about following individual happiness.
Congratulations Winnie, experiences we get abroad helps a lot in understanding whom we are as Africans and Kenyans. Where is CHAMSMEDIA in ICTP Trieste, Italy. We are here daring.
She's very lucky everything went smooth and normal routine.. As for me, 11 years our of High nd don't have even a diploma, did aviation in kenya and South Africa nd never succeeded and now i dont know what life plans fr me.. My hope still lies with the lord in shaa Allah
2:24 Very nice Ad placement here that flows with the story, without seeming like a forced product placement. Also great interview. I like how Winnie is down to earth despite her great accomplishment. No accent despite years abroad, and yet a math genius.
I would have stayed in the UK a few years & get deep into the the field of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. Use her skills to work around Deep Neural Networks etc. That would have been making her at a minimum 200k pounds a yr. Going straight back home to work for some small Healthtech company was not an ambitious move. Anybody can have that job at smart with a few certifications under the belt.

Not really. You can have experience but majority don't have entrepreneurial skills. No global chains created by Africans despite having Africans with experience. Africans abroad do well by primarily being employed. You don't see many startups or firms being created by them.

Justus Mwangi I totally agree with you. And by the way, even undergrad can be frustrating. It is not easy. I pray that you will be able to complete super fast and that God will heal you from the trauma and reward your efforts with a great and productive future. Please read Jeremiah 29:11. They may try to delay you but God's plans for you will still prevail. Be encouraged.
Victor Nyakundi, that's commendable. And to each their own. don't let anybody guilt trip you. Just do what works for you and what your heart desires. Blessings!

Her description of data science as if you have to have all that skills is not totally true at least in USA. Africans always exxagerate things to make other Africans see them as very smart. I know people working as Data scientist in US with just statistics or Computer Science or Engineering and not all that stuff she is mentioning all together.
