Ah, yes, no-one mentions the sticky battery, seemingly impossible to remove. I finally fixed it by threading a wide ribbon down the side of the battery then back up again, tying to a stick and pulling. Works great.
This helped me a lot, I was quite unsecure about prying it open with too much force then breaking it... also my battery was swollen so it was VERY HARD to take it out - couldnt pull it straight away just by pulling the cables, had to use a medium screwdriver to push it from the other side. Thank you so much.
Very good video. It must be said that most times the old battery will not simply pull out because it will be swollen. I had to take the passive radiator off the opposite end & use a long flat head screwdriver to push it out, alternating from side to side. It took quite a lot of force but it finally came out the plug end enough to grab it with some pliers.
probably late but I've had the same issue; regardless that mine is a jbl flip 4 also, the end cap wouldn't unscrew - instead I had to remove it in the same way I removed the silicone spine / radiator, it seems like it has some small clips. I tried unscrewing and I couldn't understand whyy am I not able to
good night, I also have a flip 4, my problem is that it discharges very fast, and when it has very little the horn begins to snore. Changing the battery solves that problem? And if so, what battery model do I need? Greetings, I'm from Mexico

Hello friend, I have a flip 4 GG, the drivers broke, I have a spare but for the TL version, they look like they fit, but would it not affect anything? I await your response thanks.
Thanks for your response friend, I already put them correctly with their respective polarity, I soldered them, screwed them and assembled the device, but I notice some good details, the vocal and treble tones are slightly clearer, cute and pleasant, it gives me the feeling Since the bass is cleaner, now I get a softer and more pleasant sound.
Ok, did the replacement but when I plug in to charge the lights are not flashing - I did the reset but I'm sure the battery lights stayed steady and flashed as it filled up? - let's see if it charges anyways but I feel like it's not working as it did.
The Flip 4 is the best speaker in the JBL Flip line-up till date, without any doubt. I got mine in India for $91 in November 2019 but the price went up to $110 after that and has pretty much remained there. You may ask why and the reason is, the Flip 5 is not better. The Flip 4 has brighter sound and a very tight bass and mids. It also has 2 active drivers and a 3.5 aux output, the latter essential for watching video without lag / latency. The Flip 4 also has a bass boosting feature. Press the Bluetooth and the Volume down button for about 10 seconds and you enter the Low Frequency Mode. Now your Flip 4 is ready to kill. I also love my blue as my friend loves his red and others their different hues. This speaker is a perfect blend of sound, portability, style and ruggedness. It has an IPX7 rating and it lives up to it. The price at $100 is very fair all considered. And if you can by any chance place it in a corner, it blows the lid off far larger speakers! This is a speaker you will fall in love with and never tire of!! 10/10, 5*
Hello, battery is VERY DIFFICULT to get out. I drilled it out with long bit. Needle nose players. Make sure you have patience or speaker might get thrown up against a wall!
My JBL Flip 4 not only had 5 screws around the cap but also they were plastic soft and I could only unscrew 3 of them and got blocked with 2. Ok I got pissed because I am sure it was meant to be shitty screws so people won't have an easy time replacing the battery in it. But what shocked was that the battery was glued inside after I destroyed the cap to get in it just to see if it will be possible to replace it. JBL made it on purpose like that I am sure. What we see here in these teardowns does not reflect reality. I literally paid for a battery and I couldn't replace it...
I hear a few people are having problems with the battery being glued in with double sided tape. The Flip4 seems not the easiest to replace the battery, but it is doable. You can use a hair dryer to heat up the battery area, that is going to make it easier to get the battery out. As for the screws, if the screw driver doesn't fit a 100% then you are going to have problems since the screws are really soft. Not sure why you destroyed the cap?
Same! Ridiculous design. In battle with one final screw still. Using foil, rubber bands and am now actually trying to talk it out of its stubborn mood. Trying again tomorrow. Any tips on screw removal would be appreciated.
I just oiled up a butter knife and slide it in the sides of the battery slot multiple times and then the battery became loose and was able to be pulled out.

@@essentialtech388 If not consumer use, then who is it for? I keep it permanently on. Without that, it is sorely lacking in bass.

Managed to remove it that day by sticking a knife in the gap and forcing it upwards. No amount of twisting will do the job.

Does removeing the passive radiator ruin the waterproofing?
No, the passive radiator is like a silicon seal.
