    Seychelles, officially the Republic of Seychelles, is an archipelagic state consisting of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean. This Island country is within the Indian Ocean off East Africa and has a population of 98,000 people, which is the least population among independent African countries. Nearby island countries and territories include the Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius, the French overseas departments of Mayotte and Réunion to the south; and Maldives.
    1. World Bank in 2015, elevated the status quo of Seychelles to a top earning country, this is due to its position as the highest nominal per capita GDP ($13,300) in Africa and rank as one of the countries in Africa with the highest human development index. Seychelles’ low population, offshore financial industry fishing industry and tourism sector has made the country to be the richest country in Africa. Would you believe it that the country has just 1% unemployment rate? Well that’s the case.
    2. Bird Island is home to the heaviest land tortoise living in the wild, Esmeralda. In the 1980s, when weighed by the Royal Zoological Society, ‘Esmeralda’ broke the scales at 298kg! He made history since then, and till this very day is the world’s heaviest tortoise, with its current weight at 304kg (670 pounds) and is thought to be as much as 170 years old.
    3. The native Coco de mer, also known as the sea coconut or double coconut, produces the heaviest (about 15kg) and largest seed in the world. This oddly shaped nut, being the shape and size of a person's disembodied buttocks is endemic to the Seychelles islands of Praslin and Curieuse. This specie of nuts were sometimes carried to distant shores, such as those of the Maldives, to plant. These nuts did not germinate. The exceptional size and suggestive form of the nut, the circumstances of its discovery, and some unusual qualities of the trees have given rise to several legends.

Prince William and Kate Middleton, now the Duchess of Cambridge, spent their honeymoon at the North Island of Seychelles, a spot previously chosen by David and Victoria Beckham.
    5. The 48th edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 26th November 1998 at the Lake Berjaya Mahé Resort in Mahé Island, Seychelles. The media used this popular event to show off the amazing islands in Seychelles. Afterwards, tourists started discovering this magnificent country and today, it is amongst of the top tourist destinations in Africa.

In a ranking dominated by Asian countries, with Japan as 1st, and Singapore and South Korea tied as 2nd, Seychelles comes as the 29th country with the most powerful passports in the world, and 1st in Africa. Seychelles has held this title for the fifth year in a row. Its passport promises access to 151 countries across the globe.
    7. According to the latest WHO data published in 2020, life expectancy in Seychelles for Male is 69 and female, 78, bringing the average life expectancy in Seychelles to 73. This gives Seychelles a World Life Expectancy ranking of 108. And an African life expectancy ranking of 5.
    8. Made up of 115 islands, the Seychelles is an archipelago in the Indian Ocean. The islands of Seychelles are classified into 42 inner granitic islands and 73 outer coralline islands. These islands feel like paradise; they are granitic and have incredible beaches including Anse Intendance in Mahé, Anse Lazio in Praslin and Anse Source d’Argent in La Digue. They’re also home to very few hotels, magnificent beaches and Eden-like nature.
    9. Almost half of the limited landmass in the country is occupied by national parks and reserves. This is in support of the government’s various environment and ecosystems protection and conservation policies.
    10. Seychelles is also home to the world’s largest land crab, the coconut crab. As a matter of fact, they’re the largest terrestrial arthropod on the planet. Coconut crabs can lift more than 60 pounds, and they can crush through coconuts. This has led to the idea that coconuts are the preferred food of this species, but that’s not really the case.

    I want to visit or move to Africa. I understand Seychelles is the least corrupted country in Africa of course I want to see and visit many more countries in that beautiful continent.love to cruise there.
