I hope he didn’t get sanctioned for this, he’s within his rights to argue that going for the double twelve was part of a mental unblocking process he felt was necessary before he could proceed.
By that logic, you could murder someone and justify it with some of that ridiculous nonsense. Look, although it could be intentional, I have a hard timing arguing for fining someone who went for a 20 on 189 because it could be a mental slip. This is ludicrous.
The PDC should mind their own business. If he wants to play like this, he plays like this. If he loses he's only hurting himself. Clearly he felt he needed some practice on D12 /s
The context was clear you would rightly feel but yes, you can see that players must always be trying because it can look rigged. Of course that doesn't end cheating but it's not a good look for those seeing it as possibly cheating. He was frustrated. He appeared to be trying to hit the D12 because it's very hard to miss it that close repeatedly on purpose. Great real time characters though.

Thing is, he could probably argue that it’s a ‘mental block’ kind of thing, where he felt he needed to get a couple of successful throws under his belt should it be required later in the game
In our league, back when we doubled on, and when they tracked all star points (high DO/DI/T80/R09 etc), we played against a team where their captain, playing the last match of the night, spent the entire 01 match trying to double bull on so he could get a chance at a 170 on. He kept missing the double bull and only got on in the second leg when our player was at an out. We took the win but it did feel kind of like a slap to our player who wanted a challenging game, not what amounted to a forfeit. What Mensur was doing seemed like he was rolling over and giving up out of frustration. I am surprised he won that leg doing that.
It put Wade off a bit, I believe. Wade was probably upset that Suljovic was doing that. No one wants to play against someone who isn't trying their best. I'm curious what their post-match handshake was like.
Stuart Pyke clearly has no teeth. You can tell by how he talks. As you say the greats of Sid Waddell,John Gwynne and Dave Lanning have all passed away,no one really of that high level anymore.
Omg i didnt even know this happened but this has got to be the strangest and funniest leg ive ever seen coz he bloody won it. 5-0 down u cant win a leg, so just keep trying at D12 which u missed the day before and then even after all that u end up winning ur first leg. Bizzare is an understatement.
I used to play darts all the time. I haven't played in years now, I think I'll go out and buy a new dart board and new darts. I'll set it up in my big shop, I can throw some darts when taking a break from whatever I'm working on.
I don't think he was giving away the leg, he kept going for the double 12 as Wade wasn't able to pull ahead of him. As soon as he felt he needed to play properly in order to win he did.
Nothing in the rules state that you have to throw for a certain number, you can go for any number at any time, so pdc should not even get involved, infact if it is so wrong , why did the ref not stop the game or warn him, the leg was chalked up and was awarded, no argument.
While the PDC look into this perhaps they should look into the NON thrower encroaching into the throwing area. The refs nearly always ignore it OR are not watching. MVG does it every match, pretty sure the thrower can feel his breath on their neck.
What do you define as "best of his abilities"? He won the leg, so it was all that was needed. Taylor wasn't fined either when he purposely throw the dart as far away from bull as possible so the other player would start and he can break him immidiately in the match. Don't be silly..
Either it bothered him that much missing the double 12 he kept going for it till he hit it or he thought he was at the Grand Prix and it's double in double out! Haha 😂
Agree. It should be a fine. I’ve seen people come back from 5-0. It throws your opponent off, and you’re literally THROWING 😂 the game. This is only allowed in Double in/ out
This was hilarious, and the fact that he still won the leg made it even better.
It would have been funnier if Wade started trying to hit the double 12 too.
That was mental
James Wade got put off by mensur double twelve antics😮

Moving and jumping?
So the young players are like next gen consoles without loading screens in their throw

Commentators need to lighten up a little.
It amazes me how much movement players make at this level. Mensur's body is all over the shop.
Most players are completely still when throwing to be fair, Mensur struggling a lot at the moment so his body movement is becoming erratic
I've said for ages that If he could sort out his balance he'd be much higher up in the rankings.
you can't use Mensur for generalization, he has been unique in many ways

Loved the double check of score at 91 like it even mattered.
