The basketball world lost a great man in Hank Gathers. He was one of those players that was first class on the court and off. I remember when I recorded this that although I am a huge OU fan, if we didn't play well I was going to keep recording just to watch him play.
This LMU team has fascinated me forever. Their offense started running before the ball even got through the net at the other end. The opponent wasn't ready for the energy and speed and never got into any kind of position for transition defense. You see some of that technique even today: get the defense scrambling and backpedaling & drive to the rim for layups / kick-out for open 3s.
