Heart Shape Meringues, Quick and easy

  • learn how to make this cute heart shape meringues, perfect for valentines day or to give to a loved one.
    use the same technique and create other great shapes and designs
    Meringue Recipe
    6 egg whites (fresh at room temp)
    pinch of crème of tartar or a few drops of lemon juice or vinegar
    Whisk on low to medium speed until soft to stiff peaks
    365 grams of castor sugar
    add this to egg white 1 spoonful at a time. DO NOT rush this. process may take 10-15mins to complete.
    Colour with gel colouring if you like.
    fill piping bags with meringue. I used three different piping tubes, curved star, medium star and round tubes.
    Pipe onto prepared trays lined with baking paper. I pre drew my shapes to make sure I had even shapes and could fit as many on the tray as I could.
    Decorate with assorted sugar pearls and decorations.
    I used Valentine's day tones of pink and red 100's and 1000's , pink and red sugar hearts, white sugar pearl sprinkle mix, red sugar crystals, gold sugar pearls and gold edible glitter.
    Bake at 100-110 degrees in a fan forced dry oven. for 1 1/2 hours. turn off oven and allow meringues to cool for 3 hours or over night
    NOTE
    meringues hate water and steam so I use a couple of wooden dowels in the seal of my oven to release the steam.
