I've always said Saka was technically one of Englands best players but had no idea his mental capacity was so strong. To step up and take his penalty under immense pressure with nothing but a cheeky smile and wave blew me away.

The problem is Southgate won't fix the real issues in the attack: (a) The left side of the squad does not function well, because Trippier is so right footed, and Foden does not hold his width. (b) Kane, Bellingham, and Foden too often get in each other's way and try to occupy the same space. (c) There is no speedy outlet in attack, especially on the left. An obvious solution has been to play a true winger on the left in Anthony Gordon, move Foden to the 10 (or start Palmer there), and drop Bellingham to the 8 alongside (but slightly ahead of) Rice, a position he's long played for club and country prior to this year. The move to the 3-4-2-1 did improve things a bit, creating more separate zones for Bellingham and Foden, with Jude on the left and Foden on the right. But it also sacrificed a lot of width in attack. Southgate is a good squad builder and man manager. He's actually a relatively poor tactician.

Not only has Saka been our best/most effective player for the last two or three years, but his positional flexibility really speaks volumes as to his professionalism and desire. I remember the coverage remarking that he was the solution for every problem we had, such an apt description of a fantastic player. (Not even an Arsenal fan before someone says it! 😂)

Saka was brilliant in our first game. Bit more quiet in the rest of the group. Another 10/10 performance last night. Not an Arsenal fan but can see why they call him starboy. He just does everything you want. You shout out the TV to take the man on, who to pass to etc. and he just always seems to do the right thing. It's only foden and kane not showing up when it comes to the front line. Watkins and Gordon deserve a chance. Gordon would basically be another saka on the other wing. Watkins scored plenty of goals in a Villa team.
Saka is the most technically gifted player in that team man. His touch…speed…intelligence….switches up how he beats a man too which keeps defenders guessing…..he’s like the perfect academy product. Hardly any mistakes and flaws in his game

Southgate and saka is the best thing that ever happened to this England team. Southgate stood his ground as a manager and believe that saka could make the difference at a crucial point.

The reason Saka was ineffective the previous games was because of the bum he has behind him who offers ZERO going forward and a CF that is on the halfway line any time Saka got the ball and was lumbering back like a snail and two players who were playing on top of each other on the left. Plus a guy playing LB who can’t do anything except pass backwards. So he had no one to pass to.

The game inside the game was Aebischer vs. Saka, and Saka dominated that duel, this is what won the game for England. In all fairness, Switzerland deserved more than England in this game. Collectively, even after a difficult 1st half, the nati was better and proposed more than England, also in the extra-time. England won that game on experience more than pure football.

Saka has consistently been England's best player since his debut. He's played 28 matches and been voted man of the match on 11 occasions. To hear Gary Neville, Roy Keane and others say that Palmer deserves a start over him because of one good season and 'he runs at players with the ball' was absolutely ridiculous. It does seem racially motivated from them and their country because he can't have one bad game or make one mistake. The penalty in the last final and the fact that they're calling for him to be benched for no real technical reason proves this.

He doesn’t attack the last defender, he doesn’t run in behind and when Saka gets to the by line and crosses he is not on the last man available for a speculative cross.. he’s jogging behind to take up a position on the edge of the box. A choice needs to be made, we need Toney or Watkins to play the role of striker, either you keep Kane or lose one of Bellingham / Foden / Saka. Kane should have been rested he doesn’t look fit. However we all know the team will have its favourites. We don’t play Englands best players always favouring the familiar but if Maguire was fit Guehi wouldn’t have played 1 minute if this tournament.. yet he’s been probably one of our best players so far.

Saka is gonna play Ake the first half and Van Der Ven the second half against the Netherlands. If he passes them we got Van Dijk behind him. Gakpo is the left forward. We aren't Zwitserland! He's gonna see the back of jerseys a lot this time. Van der Ven is faster and stronger too. He can outrun Saka any day of the week.
He plays against these guys in the English premiere league every week and does extremely well, so... the fact still remains, he's a top quality player.

One can clearly see that this guy was developed as a CB coz he lacks basics of a modern 6.
-He stays hidden behind defenders & can''t open for the ball in build-up,
-No passing range,
-Cant take the ball on the backfoot and play on the half turn to get forward ball
-During buildup he stays in Midfied even when its congested, he doesn't understand when to drop in between the CB's to push the WB's up
-When he does get the ball with back facing to goal hes either gonna pass it back to a defender or pass it sideways, no forward pass to speak of
Arteta is smart and realised that RIce is no 6 but he had already spent 100mil+ on him so he obviously couldn't bench him. So he decided put a decent but natural 6 in Jorginho there and moved rice to play a box to box 8 where he could use his energy.
Ask yourself a question If he was world class in that position why would Arteta move him and put a player that that isnt world class?
Imagine Rodri or Busquets being moved to accommodate someone???
