Thank you VERY much for this video. It was really like a wakeup call for me! Spent so much money into the wind by paying all those companies selling Themes that are overloaded with stuff and they never explain properly how it works! A simple custom-built page is WAY better than all those themes taken altogether!
As I'm brand new to WordPress, this video made the difference between me getting my site done versus continuing to struggle for hours on end. You got me to smash that SUBSCRIBE button. Thank you!! This was very valuable to me in a time when I really needed it.
The single most helpful, concise and well thought out video I've watched on Elementor - seriously this is incredibly useful. Loads of tips on things that have been frustrating me for what feels like weeks!! Great stuff & thank you! :-)
Hi WPTuts, an excellent, concise but complete tutorial. I learned a lot through it, answered most of my questions and helped me resolving some issues when using templates with Elementor Pro. I have seen several videos and 99% of those on UA-cam try to concentrate on how to build the page but your is way different, effective and short. Thanks for this brilliant work.
Thanks for showing that the Hello "theme" can be very useful and fairly simple. Started using Elementor with OceanWP thinking Hello would be too daunting, but will now consider Hello in the future.
As a beginner this was a great video. Straight to the point, precise and clear instructions with loads of useful information between. Am I wrong to assume if I use this method to create my own unique template I can use that as a basis for brand new designs, or does that simply save as a theme that can't be customized?
You could Export all the theme files created with Elementor alongside the Hello theme, then when you want to use them as the basis for another site, simply upload and activate Hello, install EPro and then Import those Elementor templates in and you're good to go. I hope that helps. :0)
Great video. Once again you killed it! Is amazing the amount of things one can learn from this channel and the more you watch this videos the more you become and expert and develop better skills to create better websites for your clients. Thank you.
Thanks very much for this information. I have an issue with the Astra theme overriding Elementor's Woocommerce theme builder. Hopefully, the Hello theme resolves this issue. Thanks for all you do for the Wordpress community and beyond.
First video we have watched on Elementor. Very precise, understandable, and a great start for us regarding using Elementor. Unfortunately, we purchased a theme that was designed it seems using Elementor Pro and only given the free version with the theme, we are faced with redesigning each page using all the demo content layout and design in the site. Also found that when the site was offered it was listed with it's "name-Elementor" leaving us to think it was just compatible with Elementor and not realizing it was designed with Elementor Pro. So now we feel we must purchase the Pro version to edit and personalize all the design and all pages etc. If so, we could use any assistance from you if you have seen this happen on how to use the free version of Elementor first to edit the site to learn Elementor first, and possibly purchase the Pro version later on. Thank you for a great video that encourages us to watch your Elementor library of videos.
Answered everything I was wondering about how to create my blog page from scratch. Now I just need to go through the video again (and again) in slo mo. Thanks!
Thank you, I have always used ocean wp - but after watching this I believe the project I am working on now will be using Hello - It makes since to not load what you are not using. I have been working on reducing the load on sites but never thought about the load from the theme as a starting point - I find this exciting. - thank you for all your work.
Hi Paul, love this method and I'm using it now. BUT .... then I tried to create a sidebar and I couldn't find the widget area! Is that left out? So how do I create my sidebar then? I already found the answer: when creating a page template, don’t select the Elementor sidebar widget, just add whatever widgets you like in the page template in of of the columns. Works beautifully!
Exactly, by removing the theme files you have to manually add in those various different aspects of the page layout you want to build, including things like the widget areas in the sidebars, etc. Glad you found how to add those in. 😀👍
This is exactly what I've been looking for.! 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 I've created a blog page and an archive template and have been searching for how to make the archive template appear on the blog page for months. You're a real life saver!
Great content! Thanks! Can i aks how to create a smaller height on header scroll? And is it possible to show only one part of the header after scroll? Like the top top to dissapear and the navigation and logo to stay...
Thanks Paul, how would we define the sizes of headings H1 - H6 globally? We'd need to do do it on a page by page basis wouldn't we? Which seems a bit of a pain.
You could define them through CSS in the Hello theme CSS panel or you could use a tool like CSSHero to gain additional styling throughout the entire site. It's a shame that EPro doesn't offer full control over those aspects through the theme building tools. Maybe a future update!
I think that would be just about the only thing holding me back from the Hello theme. If we wanted a website with more than two levels of headings, we'd be into the world of CSS - and I don't like to venture there!
great tutorial, i am pretty new to elementor and some basics of wordpress and i have primarily used it for creating websites and not blogging, it has always confused me on how to show list of posts (archives), single posts etc... but this cleared it up for me! slightly weird but when you consider wordpress was designed to just be a blogging platform understandable... thanks.
WordPress and the development community have come a very long way over the last few years. Certainly not the WordPress that we all first saw many moons ago. 😀
Great tutorial as always. You touched on a more general concept that has been puzzling me for months: when I create an archive page, then click Read More to go to a specific post, the post shows up with no styling. If I understand what you said here, I need to create a Single Post page, then identify that page in the dashboard as the one to use. Did I get that right? A while back, you asked if there was any interest in having you do more "concept" videos (as opposed to your more common design-this or look-at-this-new-function videos). I would really appreciate a beginner's video on how the various pieces in WordPress fit together. I'm a database designer, so I understand more than most beginners how the fields in the records work, but I'm having trouble getting my head around how WordPress "knows" which archive page to use when a customer clicks Necklaces (for example) from my main menu. This tutorial helped, but I'd love to see more.
Yup, you got that right. The archive page is basically the listing. So, by default, WordPress requires an archive template to display a list of posts and then a Single template to display the individual post. Then, if you want to go off into more complex areas of creating Custom Post Types, you can also create Archive and Single templates and then use the Elementor Pro template conditions (the last section you see when trying to publish a template) and set that to work with your new Custom Post Type. Once you get your head around it, it's really simple and you can create some way more unique designs. If you have a good solid grasp of database creation you'll soon grasp the concept of creating archives and single templates to display your custom post info. I'll be covering these types of things in a LOT more detail over the coming months. So, you can expect to see full custom site designs using Custom Post Types as well as smaller projects like creating a bespoke portfolio, etc.
Excellent video tutorial! When you added the blocks e.g. home page is there a way that it takes on the default font set? I noticed whenever I use a block I had to go through all the font settings. Secondly - am i correct in assuming the page would load better with an Elementor header, footer than e.g. using Astra?
Hello theme works fine with WooCommerce but it's worth bearing in mind that the WC pages will only have WC styling applied unless you apply your own styling to them.
Best educative video about Elementor I have ever watched. Now, is there a need for me to dive into theme development really? I was interested in it because I didn't like the idea of using other premade themes.
thanks for your video, I would like to ask if I can build a complete ecommerce store from this blank theme ? including Homepage, Product page, single product page, checkout page....?

Might be good if we can download some assets like images to follow allow rather than having to search for some images. Elementor have a video on this but they don't provide any of the assets so you can copy what they are doing. Thank you.

I am so happy you created this video as it has cleared up so many questions I have as a new Elementor Pro user. Great explanation and tutorial!!! Question: Do you need to add any css or html code to the header for SEO purposes?
If you intend to make changes to any of the theme files (e.g. functions.php) then it's a good idea to install and use a child theme. If not, then you should be fine without one.
Nice video. A note only, at 13:50, the Hide Title option is not a global change, but only for the current page. Thanks Paul, Your videos are amazing, so keep going that way...!

This. There should be an option to hide all titles... I mean an easy one, on the Customizer, without needing to use any code. Also, if you check the "Hide title" option and then add a Page Title widget inside the layout, this new "dinamic" title is also hiding... pretty annoying!
Thank you very much for the prompt reply i created website with the OceanWp theme and when i switched to "No Theme" all page links become visible before the header section. Is there a way i can send you a screen shot and you can guide me what should I do please? Thank you very much.
You could change but you would lose all the additional functions that those themes provide. You could use the techniques covered in this video to replace most of the layouts with your own variations. Just make sure you either backup fully before making any changes or you try things on a development site. As for being faster, that would depend on a lot of factors with the final design. However, in theory, it should provide smaller file sizes and a speed increase. How much I couldn't possibly say.
@@WPTuts Paul, I am building a site for a client in America, however it to too complicated to change so I will use it for my next project. I did figure out some new tricks that maybe you could do a video on. The client wanted a master header and a different heading graphic for each page and some had quite a lot of text. Desktop was fine but tablet and phone was a nightmare with the text. The way I worked it was to have two heading sections on each page, hide the first on on tablet and phone and the second one shows only on the phone and I used the new background for each format on a couple of them. thewaltersgrp.com/production/
@@WPTuts Having problems with the navigation www.footedgestage.com it puts a black background behind the navigation on the page you are on; there is nowhere in the edit section to change it.
Thank you Paul. This appears VERY helpful, but I can't seem to get started. I have the free version of Elementor installed (5.3) on WP, but your instructions are to download Elementor Pro. Yet when I go to free download iit looks like it might be the same basic Elementor. I am confused at the start and would appreciate your clarifying if I need to pay to get the Pro version. I would like designing the site to be simplified in process, and beautiful in results. Thanks!
Hi, yes you need to purchase Elementor Pro to be able to follow along with this guide as it has the Theme Builder functions to be able to make your own theme files. :0)
Hi Paul. This is exactly what i was looking for with the question ." do i need a theme to produce my website " this was in 2019 do you have the same thing fro 2021
I'm trying to build a site with articles on 8 different subjects. I'd like to have 8 cards on the second page that will direct visitors to one of the 8 archives with the articles in that subject. Is it better to create 8 archive pages or use categories to pull up the article?
Thanks a lot for your video! It's been helpful as always :-). Do you know if with the Hello theme is possible to link the site logo to the home page? I have not been able to use it and I think is a good way to save space in the menu. Hope you can read this. Thanks again.
Thank's Paul this is extremely useful. I was always overwhelmed by all the settings of the Astra theme and how they overlapped with Elementor , this makes so much more sense now that Elementor has given us all these options. By the way I won't be making any Post's on my site is there still a need to create a default Archive & Single template?
WPTuts: Thanks for inquiring back Paul. I finally figured out what I was doing wrong. Really appreciate you reaching out to me here. I really enjoy your channel!!!
😍😍 this video!!!! I was looking for it since I purchased elementor pro! I was thinking not to go with elementor just because of this theme issue, this video solved that issue and many more issues that i was going to face !!! Thank you so much!
As you can build custom WooCommerce pages with the Elementor Pro Theme Builder, you should be able to manage things fairly well. You will probably need to manually edit some styling through CSS. I'll investigate things in a little more detail and hopefully release a video covering adding WC to the mix. 😀
@@WPTuts I think you should address this situation, Paul, in a future tutorial. Adding WC to the mix can get things complicated very fast, but the number of WC-specific widgets that are in Elementor Pro should allow most folks to create what they visualize.
Hello, nice video! As a non-native user, I can follow the video well. hat off !! However, I have 1 comment. Via nav menu you have made the basic settings for the menu. Then you go to the dashboard ,menu, and enter in the name of the menu . Suddenly a menu appears with menu-items as Home etc. !! Did you create this menu in advance via the dashboard "menu" ? because I don't see where it comes from. I'm a beginner in PRO. Thanks in advance and regards, Jos
Interesting! I'm going to look at some of the footer blocks in elementor to see if I can create all my links to pages like privacy policy and terms and conditions. Currently I use generatepress premium as a theme but I've had couple of issues on blog archive template styling where elementor blame GPP for CSS conflict and vice versa. I might use this method going forward or switch to Astra agency lite for access to larger range of templates. A video showing a switch from GPP to this and what needs to be considered would be good. My thoughts are that it should be pretty painless but don't really have a dummy site to test it.
Having done web design for a while I am so surprised to see such a nice tool. How well does this work using this blank theme and then integrating woocommerce into the mix?
I have been using Elementor blank canvas and using global widgets for my header and footer. This is with the default wp theme. Seems to work fine. Any thoughts on doing it this way?
Thanks Paul! I find that Ocean WP and Astra are always a pain because there's so many options to go through...very confusing. If you have any knowledge of Z-index settings for sticky headers and sliders, that would be helpful too. __Appreciate your videos... very informative and professional. Cheers!__
I've just watched the full tutorial. Wow, really nicely done. I quickly skimmed on Friday, but paid careful attention today. Very impressive. I do have one question. You showed how we could set up various styles (e.g. fonts for various elements like Body, Header, etc.). I'm not seeing any way to choose *font size* for paragraph, header, etc. I know Hero comes with a simple CSS box and I can add font size information there. But is there any point-and-click way of setting font sizes for the basic elements?
Thank you. Glad you found it a useful video.. Unfortunately there are no click and set options for global styling of individual elements. That would need to be done manually via the CSS input area or use a plugin like CSSHero to get a more design method. 👍
WPTuts: Got it! Thanks for the quick reply. I'll just use the CSS input area. However, I also had a quick look at CSSHero and it does seem useful. I'm not sure how much I'd use it if I already know some basic CSS, but probably worth a one-year trial.
@@MathewMitchellUSF No problem at all. CSSHero is great if you want to go beyond what Elementor or your theme offers you, especially when it comes to styling plugins and theme elements that are not editable via those other tools. However, if you only wanted to use it for some basic CSS edits that you could do yourself, it's probably overkill. There are a couple of videos on the channel demonstrating CSSHero that you may want to check out to see if you think it would be a useful tool for you. 👍
Sir, as of 10/10/21, the choices and selections on these pages are so dramatically different from the newest version of elementor it is difficult to follow along. Still, gratitude arises for the conceptual framework. Will you be adding a new UA-cam for the newest elementor theme builder soon?
Using the Hello theme in conjunction with Elementor, how does one universally define the font sizes of headings and body text? Within Elementor's settings, I can define the font family and weights for primary and secondary headlines, body text, and accent text - but there doesn't seem to be a way to define the size of each! I've always relied on the theme (e.g. GP) to do this and can't seem to find out how to do it with Hello. Elementor's online help system only will tell me how to define font sizes in the Style area of each widget - not universally. If I can't define and change, for example, the H1 font size from one place and have it affect all H1s across a site then using Hello is a non-starter for me!
The easiest way is to define them via CSS and use the CSS panel in the Customiser to assign them. The key point of using something like the Hello theme over something like Astra or OceanWP is that you reduce the amount of unwanted features in favour of Elementor Pro to build all the template components. Unfortunately, that also means that the theme is basically blank so as to satisfy WordPess's need for a theme to be installed.
Issue with the page title hiding. I've noticed that while this hides the titles, it does not eliminate them and they are still visible to search engine as an additional H1 tag which is obviously not good for SEO. Thoughts on how to address this?
I've just tested the templates created using this method of hiding the page title and I'm only seeing one H1 on the page and that is the correct title that is being pulled from the dynamic data. Do you have an example of what you're seeing so I can take a look?
If I already have a bought theme like AVADA, how can I delete that theme to use Elementor pro with the hello theme without losing pages already created by Elementor pro?
Thanks for the tutorial. However, after setting up my archive post template and setting the condition to all I get an error message after setting my post page to news that says: "It seems we can not find what you're looking for" :(
Ever wonder how to build a website with Elementor Pro and NOT use on a theme?
This new tutorial will show you how! 😀
Woo hoo! This is fantastic. Thanks so much for creating this tutorial.

Awesome as always. One question if i use this my content and pages will remain unharmed? Please let know ASAP. Thanks
The actual content should be fine, but there may be some layout changes depending on how you build the templates (i.e. archive, single, etc.)
Thank you very much for the prompt reply i created website with the OceanWp theme and when i switched to "No Theme" all page links become visible before the header section. Is there a way i can send you a screen shot and you can guide me what should I do please? Thank you very much.
Thanks again Paul. Was looking for this. And before anywhere else, you're the one to go to. You are the best! 👍
Way too kind Richard! I hope the vid helps out :0)
Excellent.. Thank You Paul!
No problem at all 😁🤘
Paul, if you have built a site using Astra or Ocean WP, can you convert to the Hello theme and will it change the site? Thanks for a great video
@@WPTuts Thanks, I thought that might be the case, however, I will start using this new Hello theme in the future for new sites.
@@tonyfoote3486 be sure to let me know how you get on. 👍
Excellent job!
For a "Newby" like me, this is very informative. You made a lot of things clear to me, well done ;)
Good to hear Richard. 👍
Another excellent tutorial. Thanks Paul.
No problem at all David. I hope you found it useful.. 😁👍
Hi Paul. This is exactly what i was looking for with the question ." do i need a theme to produce my website " this was in 2019 do you have the same thing fro 2021
It hasn't really changed tbh.
I'm trying to build a site with articles on 8 different subjects. I'd like to have 8 cards on the second page that will direct visitors to one of the 8 archives with the articles in that subject. Is it better to create 8 archive pages or use categories to pull up the article?
It's been one of those days, Dell 7000 Series 7377 died tonight... Anyway nice to see another nice wee tutorial. Thanks Paul.
Ouch! That's not good to hear Andy. I hope it can be resurrected! 😬
Thanks a lot for your video! It's been helpful as always :-). Do you know if with the Hello theme is possible to link the site logo to the home page? I have not been able to use it and I think is a good way to save space in the menu. Hope you can read this. Thanks again.
Any suggestions on a master CSS for text sizes etc rather than creating custom classes and then CSS editor? Any clean CSS plugin?
Thanks again Paul for sharing your knowledge with us, appreciated greatly!
One of my menu items isn't changing colour for active state when clicked . Any ideas how to fix ? Thanks
If you don't need those templates there no reason to make them. 👍
awesome video. clear and to the point. thanks
Thank for taking the time to create this great video! Loved it! (Now if I could just get my Button links to work?)
Okay! The mystery has been solved on the Button URL problem I was experiencing.
@@DBCVC what was the problem?
WPTuts: Thanks for inquiring back Paul. I finally figured out what I was doing wrong. Really appreciate you reaching out to me here. I really enjoy your channel!!!
@@DBCVC no problem, glad you found the solution to your problem 👍
😍😍 this video!!!! I was looking for it since I purchased elementor pro! I was thinking not to go with elementor just because of this theme issue, this video solved that issue and many more issues that i was going to face !!! Thank you so much!
Thank you, Paul! Love that you make videos just when I need them. A bit uncanny, actually 👻
Lol.. I've been told that on more than one occasion. Must be a super power.. lol
Thank you for this! I use Astra with Elementor, do you think it'll be faster without Astra installed and just using this??
How well would this work with woocommerce?
Fantastic video, huge help. Thank you!
Pretty well. You'll need to spend some time getting WooCommerce looking the way you want, but apart from that it should be pretty straightforward.
It's very helpful .. Thank you very much,,, I should know it before I build my website... thank you so much... make my life easier ....
I have been using Elementor blank canvas and using global widgets for my header and footer. This is with the default wp theme. Seems to work fine. Any thoughts on doing it this way?
If that method is working for you, stick with it. There's no right or wrong way. 👍
This was so helpful! Thank you for the thorough explanation!
So easy. This is a great Hint, thx.
No problem at all. 👍
Thanks Paul! I find that Ocean WP and Astra are always a pain because there's so many options to go through...very confusing. If you have any knowledge of Z-index settings for sticky headers and sliders, that would be helpful too. __Appreciate your videos... very informative and professional. Cheers!__
Super video and demo!
Why, thank you very much. 😁
Thank for the video Paul, by the way, is it possible to do a website without a builder as well?
Theoretically you could, but would say using a builder and this method offers the easiest method.
Sir, as of 10/10/21, the choices and selections on these pages are so dramatically different from the newest version of elementor it is difficult to follow along. Still, gratitude arises for the conceptual framework. Will you be adding a new UA-cam for the newest elementor theme builder soon?
Side bar , widget option not available in Hello theme !! How to deal with this issue?
Unfortunately, that also means that the theme is basically blank so as to satisfy WordPess's need for a theme to be installed.
great video. how did you make your video thumbnails I loved them. what software did you use?
All done with Photoshop 👍😀
Issue with the page title hiding. I've noticed that while this hides the titles, it does not eliminate them and they are still visible to search engine as an additional H1 tag which is obviously not good for SEO. Thoughts on how to address this?
I've just tested the templates created using this method of hiding the page title and I'm only seeing one H1 on the page and that is the correct title that is being pulled from the dynamic data.
Do you have an example of what you're seeing so I can take a look?
@@WPTuts Unfortunately I don't as I was able to fix the issue on all of our sites where it was an issue. I had to manually remove the line ""
Very cool tutorial...thank you...can you do a tutorial on putting legal pages (disclaimers) on your site? very much appreciated
Paul, thanks again for a very informative video.
If I already have a bought theme like AVADA, how can I delete that theme to use Elementor pro with the hello theme without losing pages already created by Elementor pro?
can i insert google ads or affliate links in this
Thanks for the tutorial. However, after setting up my archive post template and setting the condition to all I get an error message after setting my post page to news that says: "It seems we can not find what you're looking for" :(
How to create Mega Menu using Elementor, any suggestion or addon ?
