As someone who used to mod melon as an admin alongside MadG and the rest of that amazing staff team, i can agree that hohos had always talked down to us for making simple mistakes and would violently lash out at us in staff meetings and in DMs because it would "ruin" his reputation for looking like a bad owner. i was always uncomfortable with the way he treated other staff and being highly inappropriate in VC. The most vulgar comments that came out of his mouth, racist things like saying the n word countless times, degrading shit towards other people. it was highly disgusting coming from someone who i thought was a good person and had a high rep to hold, so i resigned from the team because it was getting tiring from having to deal with the bullshit he put us through and im so glad i did 🙏 this was an amazing video caleb and tysm for helping bring light into the situation ❤
I was there as a mod during this time and can confirm this comment. I’m lucky to have met Jayden and the kind community she’s a part of. She’s one to trust about this

You're entitled to your wrong opinion but I have multiple screenshots from what Nick has said to me, and have heard countless comments about me when I was a staff member and when I left. Not only that but there are multiple witnesses to his behavior against very few people who thinks he was justified for doing this.

you sir absolutely smashed it out of the park when it comes to editing. This server was doomed from the start however. Pay to win is a cancerous practice that Mojang themselves banned via their TOS. its why Ytbers Like Duper Trooper, Salc1 and many others started making videos about taking these kinds of servers down. But, back to the video you made, this is a winning editing style you got here. a little tweaking of how you present each topic you cover and i think you will make it big. Keep on improving man.

The P2W wasn't even really an issue (when it comes to "the downfall of the smp") It was just the lack of experience from the new owners, the lack of new updates and content and that one shitty og owner
Me and my friend (who we literally used to upload together on this smp) would play often. every day, home from school, usually with another couple of friends. every second on melon was fun, until the server reset, making us lose everything. all our kits, our ranks, money we spent on the server. the owner & the mod team were terrible, not dealing with scams, and even abusing players more often than not.
As a former active MelonSMP Player and a brother of someone who used to play Dream Fandom SMP, I am pleased that my friends can finally realize that I WASNT JOKING ABOUT DREAM FANDOM SMP.

I was also a sr mod on MelonSMP, and hohos was never short of a crazy flare.. i had worked with him years previously also on Chasecraft, avatarcraft, and minealong, he brought many servers down, and treated everyone disgustingly. i would always get accused of things because everyone wanted to believe him, and he had a thing where he would flirt with most of the females in the staff team, and even some out of it just to make himself better, i was removed because of "alligations:" of me starting a revolution against him, which led to my banning permanently. Im glad you made this video, it gives us justice!

As a former Sr. Mod from MelonSMP, this is all very accurate. The community was amazing and I miss it so much. It was just sad to see Melon fall because of careless owners.

I remember crashing that server back when it was pretty small and duping stuff to fuck up the economy lmao
As a player who nearly wasted 1 year of my life playing grinding this server achieving ranks 70k+ coins (of course as a free player) i think i wasted a chunk of my time for nothing, it made me addicted and at last it left me in a sense of regret.
As for the reason of why all of the players left / leave the server was its "MEGA" reset of all its 3 most active servers " watermelon, apple, mango ( server names)" so they rested them all trying to make it a unified server they hyped up the new server but the only mistake they made was take all the player items (op items ) all there coins just my 78k coins were well over 500$ there were people with 300k in watermelon so overall top 30 players of 3 server alone just coins value were above 70k in value irl.
Well now at least i dont get addicted in time-consuming game with no real meaning

oh man I used to be such good friends with hoho's back in 2020 I think we are still friends on snap chat. Him and his whatever group of partners he could grasp his hands on for business opportunities then would like literally copy and paste the same server layout just rebranding the name of the server, and as soon as those servers would begin to fail he just found a new group of partners that could get him the money he wanted. Funny enough, he just used a bunch of ranks bought from a block game server to buy himself a few 6 figure rides... what a life tho frfr!
I staffed a few servers he managed here and there then upon figuring out this information I slowly got out of touch with him :P

Melon was my first smp I played and it was fun! All I did was build and relax. I never had pvp battles and it's sad to see the downfall of Melon.
Friends and I also played Melon. But the pay to win issue was apparent while playing.

Being one of the richest players in MelonSMP, and the owner of /pw hell (an ocean monument made up of diamond and netherite)... I still remember the good old days.. While showing off my builds to other moderators and staff members- I remember hohos being the one who discouraged me.... I still remember those days when I recently bought the mystery sword (Sharp 10)... and showed it to my friends- and few days later... A god damn sharp 20, 25 and 50 swords were released. I still remember my broski dark_warrior from the server.
Overall I had to quit cuz of the P2W stuff and after I rejoined an year later (April 2023)... The server went through a reset. Deleting my entire inventory and everything I did for the server. The thing that still remained was the rank I had (which I got donated for)....
Thank your caleb for getting these old nostalgic memories back into my head. Good old days...

As a x-mod during melons start of the reset, there were some very shady things going. I was only a mod then left as well. Hohos and Dayton vanished, it was only when hohos left that Dayton made a message then went MIA. I loved the server, staying up almost till 3:00 AM to protect from dupers. I was probably the most active staff member during that time period, so was my manager who I became really good friends with. They told me more about Melon's past. As I spent more time there I uncovered more secrets that were not the greatest looks. I never new hohos personally but the way he acted to people on the staff discord was rude. We never had staff meetings, when I was there as people didn't care about the server. I now regret defending the server looking back how shitty it was.

I used to play on this. The owner told me to go unalive myself when I told him it was pay 2 win.
As an extremely well recognized player on melon in 2022, I noticed the downfall of the server as the playerbase slowly shrank. I quit the server shortly before an event that I refer to as "the purge" took place. In the time of this event, many months of builds and hard work (including a famous hotel I had spent weeks building, "terrahotel") were abandoned and left to be griefed by other players. Following this event, the server had fully reset (including paid items) and had effectively lost most of it's playerbase. Edit: Thank you, Caleb for providing insight on this topic (:

As someone who used to play a lot on the server and was quite known in the community, I can say that it was a really good server, that was ruined for money, but the 3 months with no updates was one of the best times to play, because the server wasn't laggy, but there were still enough players to enjoy it
I agree to this, after the first big reset it got even worse because everyone lost their stuff and the server had a new chance of getting more money so I stopped playing eventually

I used to play on this w/ my friends it was fun for a while..
Basically my friend got banned by toxic admins so we stopped playing but at one point they reset the hole map so when we all logged on again (my friend who got banned on an alt) are base was gone:(

This is a really sad story. I am a staff member on OneblockMC, and our owner is reletavely inactive, however we have an admin team who care about the server and player base and are incredibly dedicated. I hope that can prevent something like this from happening. I love the community and especially that within staff. I suppose it’s a “pay to win server” but it’s ranks and kits are decently easy to get without paying real money, I bought the top rank for in game currency. The kits are cool, but there are better items in crates from bossfights which happen 5 times a day. This makes it easy to compete on the server without spending a cent.
Doubt you’re going to see this but great vid! I used to be a long time mod for Charlie back in 2019 for when he streamed Fortnite on UA-cam and then transferred to DreamFandom SMP. Before it all went downhill he was a genuine kid making like 10k a month of UA-cam and other stuff, he then found out how rich he could get off of Minecraft servers and rebranded to Melon smp, I got demoted to helper because I was supporting a sr. Mod to get paid because Charlie was making enough money and already paying other people. He got all mad at me and then finally banned me from the server. That was in like 2021 and I was kinda shocked but I will always remember the good old days back on Dream Fandom when everyone was friends because there was only a few of us. But yeah Great video, good job on the research, you only missed a little non important stuff.
As a big player on the server I can’t deny that this is the truth I ruined most of the servers eco anyways so LET IT BURN TO THE GROUND
I used to be staff on this server but got removed for accidently finding and using an exploit. For context, up until recently I've been using a horrible PC so a lot of the times things in game are extremely laggy for me. After I was removed I kind of forgot about the server but came back to see a ton of the staff just gone. Thanks so much for making this video!

I used to play and was a big player on this server. I would say that the mod team and the developers screwed themselves with made them lose profit. They then tried to make almost everything pay to win. This made people hate it.
Funniest thing about servers is that once pandemic died down, so does staying indoors. People already moved on with their lives which, for servers is definitely bad news. Less active players, less revenue possibilities. It's just the way of life.

I remember joining it with my brother. Though at that point in time it wasn’t much of a “pay to win” server, just a place the have fun. I haven’t played on it since then because I got a new computer and forgot the ip, sad to see how a smp I played on almost every day turned into this.

They shut down the server because of this, I kinda liked that server, not the pay to win part but it had a good community, I get it but it's still kinda sad, some people really liked that server, at least the final minutes of the server were fun, I was there for the last hour of the Server being online, at least the part where we all got admin and blew up the spawn was really fun but it is still kinda sad.
It has a good community for sure. One guy donated me one and a half mil gems off the start. Really benefited from that, and got paid armor and tools for absolutely free.

Today, I remembered how i used to play on this server and i tried to log on. Didn't work. I then tried to go into the discord but it wasnt in my server list anymore. Then i clicked on youtube and found this video. Thank you for this information. I really miss the server but now that i know what was going on behind the scenes i am just sad.

As a former melonsmp player, starting early 2022, I can say that this was one of the best servers out there. As soon as I joined, I was welcomed and then was given a bunch of stuff by a kind person. No matter how many servers I try to grind, they dont feel the same as melon did. Thankfully, I still have some melon friends added, but its extremely sad to see its downfall, not to mention the amount of staff that actually were dedicated to the game. _fish6169 here, to all the people I was unable to say goodbye to in melon, due to quitting right after the restart, thank you for all the amazing memories, including the drama 😂. Love you all, melon players and former staff. ❤️

As someone who plays melon it’s kinda sad because they had a realm called survival and I had 70days of playtime I was in top gems which is game money and top in kills and they just closed it a few days ago because survival wasn’t making enough money to have it still open. But they said they’re having 10 new things coming out in like a week but I wished they would reset OP survival to make it fair for those who are going to from survival to OP

hohos was also an owner for a server called AvatarCraft for a very short time. I played before and during his ownership. He had builders create an entire custom world. Safe to say the server died after he became owner. The server was closed a year ago. Miss you AvatarCraft.

I played this server when it was originally called the dream fandom smp, back when charlie had a small player base of 20-30 and I tried to invest in his server and got scammed around 100-150 USD after being one of his top donors/supporters of his server and giving him many ideas that created his server now.

Basically, me and my friends discovered an exploit that allowed us to dupe. There were crates called “mystery keys” that would sell lvl 50 items. We would dupe those and pass them out to all the players. We eventually got banned by MadG, but we ruined the crate that was bought the most
