    Nice canoe, very simple to make. It was very nice to see you actually use it too: so many vids I have seen where they finish making and never show it being used on water.

    • @daleskidmore1685
      @daleskidmore1685 9 років тому

      ha, ha. Yes, I have watched canoed coracles and many other forms of boat being made, and there are very few that have film of them being used. I always comment when I see one on the water; I feel cheated with the other vids.

    Billy awesome video. Like all your videos. I know you do your videos so you can pass on the skills that you know. Myself and others love to learn these skills. In your videos you share you don't give us enough information to do what you do. Like which way to lay out the tarp or how big of a tarp it even is. That is the kind of information that is real useful. I know you edit your videos way down to keep them kinda short or maybe so the upload time don't take so long. No matter how long you make your videos we will watch just like Mike Barton he makes some long videos with a lot of information in them. He has a lot of people who subscribe to his channel for that reason. So keep up the videos we will watch them all and thanks for sharing.

    Billy, this is fantastique! I have 2 wood and canvas solo canoes and a cedar strip canoe that I built but I never thought of building one with a tarp. So exciting! Love the thought of paddling while smelling the wonderful scent of balsam as ribs. Is that balsam? Really cool that you didn't have to steam the ribs to bend them in shape. WOW!!

    Hey great work on this one, I really like you getting Andre( the Master Craftsman) in them. I don't think people realize how many viewers watch these videos and how much information is transferred. It's like being in an internet classroom. I had never seen that locking clove hitch for example. You may have to start doing series like 'Wranglerstar' does simply to get all the information in. I loved his book as well!! I can only imagine those blackflies. The average person has no idea what they are like. Great video Mon'Amie, you are doing some excellent work.

      It was several years before I started doing videos, but I made a fram similar to yours nad put the rest of the tarp into it and sat on it, it didnt float well cause the water pushed in the tarp in between framework. I sank. Ha,ha..
      I will try a new one in the summer, its not a good time to sink now Billy.

      Brill Pappin I don't think I'd try this unless I really had too. A raft would be better and safer than a tarp being ripped on a branch.

    • @BrillPappin
      @BrillPappin 9 років тому +1

      Stephen Bradley I think it would actually be pretty tough, at least as tough as birthmark, if not quite as hard.
      At our place, we have several canvas canoes that do just fine, they are obviously better constructed and have a wooden keel, but branches don't rip the canvas.
      The only thing to keep in mind is that it's going to leak as those tarps are not water proof, however it should get you were your going :)
