I myself was adopted into an amazing family who has taught me how to stay humble and know how much I’m loved. I see how much love you give to each of your children. I was 6 months old when I was adopted and now I’m 43 years old. You are such an inspiration family full of love and respect.🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️

Jamie deserves this acknowledgement so much. Being modest, committed and caring. She and the special needs organizations such as the special Olympics, are proof that competition or life isn't about winning or losing, but about taking part and experiencing joy. and self esteem. She looked so fulfilled and proud.👏🏼 It should indeed be a normalcy to give these special organization's the same attention they deserve. I had always hope that Alex would aspire a job as sportcoach for special needs persons. Wishing you success with the house and fitting hobbies 😊

Special Olympics is great, my brother does bowling in the Netherlands. I support him and the rest of the teams when they get a strike! Amazing! So mutch Joy !!
My 20yo daughter is majoring in Special Ed and works with students and adults with intellectual disabilities as a Peer Mentor and an Education Coach. She also started volunteering with Best Buddies and Special Olympics and she absolutely loves it. She says it's so rewarding and really loves seeing all the love and happiness at those events. Such great programs!!!
As a coach, working with 7 year old kids who wants to play just to have fun, to elderly people, to people competing in paralympics. I could write a novel about the importance of inclusion but if I had to choose one thing to comment on here: Everyone got something they’re good at. People being presented opportunities to try new things is step one. Second, once a person has found something they like- if they get to practice in a good community, where the structure is based on their goals/needs/way of learning- basically anything is possible. Appreciate you sharing about your journey in this, much love from Scandinavia!

My favorite hobby is sewing. I especially love English Paper piecing (EPP) because it's all done by hand, and therefore portable! I can sew in the car while hubby is driving, or at games, outdoor concerts, waiting for appointments, etc! There are tons of youtube videos to get you started! ❤

I can totally relate to what Crystal said about finding a hobby. My son is older, my husband has hobbies and I found myself looking for one. It’s hard to shift your focus from family to yourself. I’ve found that I love to use my Cricut! I usually make things for others but I find joy in sharing what I make:)

There is some seasons that I am in 5 sports all at once I am trained to go to the national games at the end of the month for snowshoeing With the special Olympics, it's a great way of meeting friends and learning new skills which I love a lot And I'm glad that Jamie is love

My nephew is a senior in high school and is in the special education program. Ever since he was in high school he has participated in the special Olympics. Since he's a senior this year they awarded him a school letter for basketball. He was able to get a letterman's jacket. He is so excited. I have a special place in my heart for special Olympics.

Chrystal, finding a hobby for yourself is a great idea. I just moved to a new place and joined a ballet class. Feels good to meet new people and the physical & mental workout too. It's a win-win. 😊
Crystal I don't have a hobby either but I have structure in my life so that is my hobby if you understand, most people in the world don't have hobbies but you have lots of children so your hobby probably is bringing them around to their various classes and that is amazing
Way to go Jamie! I loved seeing you have fun in all your events! You did so well, and kept a smile the whole time, one of the best things about you. (I hear your hugs are amazing too) I didn't have hobbies outside my kids either, so when they got older and moved out, I did flounder a bit. It didn't help that we'd recently moved to a new state where I didn't know a single person. Then I found a group called Beta Sigma Phi. It's a sorority, but it's not collegiate affiliated, it was started in 1931 as a chance for housewives to get together, make some friends and even learn. I've been in it for 10 years now, and since it's an International organization, I was able to find a new chapter/sisterhood when I moved again a few years ago. I would highly recommend it to anyone, you could bring your mom, sisters, and daughters over 18 along too!

Just want to say that it brought tears to my eyes as I am involed in special olympics new zealand with horse riding it has changed my life seeing the people achieve things is amazing and been part of it and riding in the canter group is big my journey has not been easy but special olympics has made me grow
Hobby topic: I’ve struggled with this for a long time and the only thing I’ve found to help me in this area is to continuously seek out new things to try. And get creative with it! Recently: 1.) I did some research on yoga studios in my area and found a scholarship where I clean once a week (service work) in return for unlimited free yoga classes. This has forced me (in the best way) to get integrated and comfortable with the studio and the people. Yoga makes me feel good and doing service makes me feel even better. 2.) My upstairs neighbors are moving and asked if I’d be interested in their wood burning kit. I said yes! Soon after I was in Scottsdale walking around and stumbled upon some super cute/simple wood burning pieces and now I have realistic inspiration! These are just examples but I’ve accumulated a lot of hobbies in just a year or two by getting out there! Having a partner who is ready and willing to support me in this helps too! Candle making, pump tracks, geocaching, scrapbooks, ceramics, pickle ball, hikes with your doggos. Anything that will make your dog happy, will make you happy! Try not to put any pressure on yourself and keep an open mind! You might not be good at anything first or second try - so give yourself some grace and have fun!
Great Job Jamie❤ Christal, you could write a book about becoming a forever home for so many kids. There are many people out there who would love to do what you are doing and your input would be very welcome. Just a suggestion though. I paint and write poetry in my spare time.

I loved helping with the special Olympics when I was a kiddo, I had a foster brother who had Cystic fibrosis and always helped out.

Chrystal, finding a hobby for yourself is a great idea. I just moved to a new place and joined a ballet class. Feels good to meet new people and the physical & mental workout too. It's a win-win. 😊

Crystal I don't have a hobby either but I have structure in my life so that is my hobby if you understand, most people in the world don't have hobbies but you have lots of children so your hobby probably is bringing them around to their various classes and that is amazing

I didn't have hobbies outside my kids either, so when they got older and moved out, I did flounder a bit. It didn't help that we'd recently moved to a new state where I didn't know a single person. Then I found a group called Beta Sigma Phi. It's a sorority, but it's not collegiate affiliated, it was started in 1931 as a chance for housewives to get together, make some friends and even learn. I've been in it for 10 years now, and since it's an International organization, I was able to find a new chapter/sisterhood when I moved again a few years ago. I would highly recommend it to anyone, you could bring your mom, sisters, and daughters over 18 along too!

Just want to say that it brought tears to my eyes as I am involed in special olympics new zealand with horse riding it has changed my life seeing the people achieve things is amazing and been part of it and riding in the canter group is big my journey has not been easy but special olympics has made me grow

Hobby topic: I’ve struggled with this for a long time and the only thing I’ve found to help me in this area is to continuously seek out new things to try. And get creative with it! Recently: 1.) I did some research on yoga studios in my area and found a scholarship where I clean once a week (service work) in return for unlimited free yoga classes. This has forced me (in the best way) to get integrated and comfortable with the studio and the people. Yoga makes me feel good and doing service makes me feel even better. 2.) My upstairs neighbors are moving and asked if I’d be interested in their wood burning kit. I said yes! Soon after I was in Scottsdale walking around and stumbled upon some super cute/simple wood burning pieces and now I have realistic inspiration! These are just examples but I’ve accumulated a lot of hobbies in just a year or two by getting out there! Having a partner who is ready and willing to support me in this helps too! Candle making, pump tracks, geocaching, scrapbooks, ceramics, pickle ball, hikes with your doggos. Anything that will make your dog happy, will make you happy! Try not to put any pressure on yourself and keep an open mind! You might not be good at anything first or second try - so give yourself some grace and have fun!

Christal, you could write a book about becoming a forever home for so many kids. There are many people out there who would love to do what you are doing and your input would be very welcome.
Just a suggestion though. I paint and write poetry in my spare time.
