    Thank you for explaining this in such an easily digestible way. My daughter's feNO test result was around 140ppb today. I'm trying to wrap my head around the concept because hef specialist seemed quite okay with it. Just doubled her symbicort dosage for the next 4 months.

      Did they double the steroid dosage in the Symbicort? I'm just curious if they increased the steroid or just added puffs of the current MDI. Adding a steroid inhaler might be more cost effective if the high dose symbicort is more expensive.

    I was diagnosed with eosinophilic asthma about 18 months ago. I did the FeNo test in my local hospital's asthma clinic (in the UK). It showed raised NO levels apparently although I was a bit confused about the measuring units being used. I was given oral steroids in hospital (3 hospitalisations in early 2022). Since then, with inhalers, my condition is under control but I have an emergency pack of medications including Prednisolone if I had a bad asthma event... This happened only once since my last hospital visit, which is not bad... I don't want to be on oral steroids for too long. Anyway, here's an interesting things... Too low levels of Nitric Oxide in our bodies is now recognised a health problem. I find it interesting that NO can be seen as too high via a FeNO test in relation to airway inflammation but too low for general health and longevity. Here's a video interview with a chap who was awarded the Nobel Prize for his work on Nitric Oxide and how important it is to have high enough levels in our bodies. ua-cam.com/video/YsZ_vWxI3bQ/v-deo.html

    Hello Jimmy,
    Just wondering is NO2 considered a anesthetic gas? Our DORA license in Colorado doesn't allow RT's to administer anesthetic gases. All other gases we can administer. I enjoy your web site.
    Thanks

      Our license in Indiana is the same. Nitrous, NO2, can only be given by an anesthesia provider.

      I'm sorry. I don't know any tutors. I would help if I had free time, but I can't right now 😫

    Interesting stuff. I remember hearing about this a couple of years ago. Seems so much simpler than a PFT. Is there a guideline as to the amount of time that you should wait after starting treatment before you would retest someone? Also, is it primarily for asthma, or is there benefit in testing patients with COPD?

    • @rtclinic
      @rtclinic  2 роки тому +1

      It can be repeated 4 - 6 weeks after starting therapy. Asthma is the primary use, but I think it will branch to ICS use on COPD in the future. Serial testing and clinical correlation work best.

    My FeNO result showed 78ppb. Is there any way my Nitric Oxide levels have risen due to Nitrates in my diet?

    • @rtclinic
      @rtclinic  Рік тому

      I'm not sure if exhaled NO is affected by nitric oxides in your body. The exhaled nitric oxide in feno testing is directly related to the airway tissue.
