  • Located in SW Presque Isle County. The Sinkholes Pathway is a 2-mile loop around five very impressive sinkholes. The sinkholes area is in a heavily wooded forest which provides a hike unlike any other. The area features karst topography characterized by natural limestone, where underground streams dissolve the rock into a series of large caves. These caves eventually result in sinkholes after collapsing under the weight of sand, rock or clay. The trailhead is 12 miles southeast of Onaway via M-33 South and Tomahawk Lake Highway. The trail can be accessed 0.1 miles down Shoepac Lake Road from Shoepac Lake State Forest Campground.

Those sinkholes are pretty cool to see. The steps going down to the first sinkhole were kind of sketchy so that help change our minds pretty quick. The trail itself was fun. Enjoy your day Jim✌️

Thanks for watching. The sinkholes pathway is a fun hike. It’s best to see the sinkholes when there’s no leaves on the trees. But it’s still a nice hike no matter what. Have a great and adventurous day.
