To be fair, Italian pronunciation makes more sense than French and English, at least for me, a Vietnamese speaker.

THERE WERE 2 RESTAURANTS IN MANHATTAN, ASTIS, & MARGARITA & BIANCHI'S , WHERE THE WAITERS & WAITRESSES, SUNG OPERA. (ALL STUDENTS. ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE WHEN EVERYONE CAME OUT OF THE KITCHEN, TO SING THE ANVIL CHORUS FROM LA TRAVITORE, THE BARTENDER BEAT ON THE BAR GLASSES. BRRRR , I STILL GET SHIVERS, REMEMBERING IT

9 years later: the only way to tell who in the crowd might be a singer:
none of the singers was using a phone camera.
These phones were still a novelty in 2014. Do people still do this en masse?

that was sang very well. Streetwise Opera (whom I sang with) sang Liabamo song in July 2013 at a summer festival a very popular song. Also there was a big flashmob in London where we sang Va pensiero (Dearest Homeland) another Verdi classic filmed by Royal Opera House in Sept 2013 here's the video enjoy Covent Garden flashmob - 'Va, pensiero' by Giuseppe Verdi (Full version)

And that Soprano that is what can sings in the C6 without lyric and with lyric to D6 the Tenor can sing in the notes 6 being lyric spinto

Isn't it a sad refection on modern day society that they would rather film it, than watch it live!
And the people with the phones being videoed by other people with phones.. And on till Infinitum.......
There's no way a person can manipulate a cell phone or worse yet an I-pad and fully enjoy Verdi's drinking song. You cannot multitask your way through Verdi and experience the joy of it. Would they do the same for Verdi's Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves in Nabucco. It seems sinful to even contemplate it.
In this case it's a very small space, and when people are singing it's a powerful experience. It could be a way to deflect from the tension.
