His dad was in the audience to surprise Dimash. Dimash did not spot him until the end when he was giving his thank you's. Dad and son hugged and hugged. Dimash needed support at first being in a foreign country. His dad stayed a week and Dimash was fine when he left, His Dad became his manager and they have done very well since, Dimash is a big Michael Jackson as you will really see in his BASTAU concert,

Dimash is fluent in Russian. Kazakhstan was once part of the former Soviet Union. He knew basicly no English, or Chinese back in 2017. That didn't stop him from singing songs, in both those languages.
He is a fearless performer. I guess if you have a Stradivarius for a voice, it gives your a certain amount of confidence.
And you are correct, he never sings the same song, exactly the same way. The next song he did, on the Singer show, was "Show Must Go On" by Queen, in English. His English was not good. But he still sang the hell out of it. There is never a dull moment, with Dimash.
I'm a metalhead and I don't usually listen to pop. But Dimash is incredible. I, too, cried the first time I heard SOS. He is magic.

You can see Dimashs father at the end, the man who put his arm in the air. He and his wife are well known singers in Kazakhstan too.

He sings in over a dozen languages, speaks 2 fluently ( Kazakh , Russian) 1 ( mandarin) conversationally and English he understands better than he speaks but he is doing well with English too. He plays 7-8 instruments, has 1 degree in music but is studying for a second. He has perfect pitch, started training in classical music and piano when he was 5. He swims to train his breathing techniques. He also does singing practice at least 3 hours per day. His mother is a professional opera singer and his father was a pop singer, composer and song writer. He is now Dimash's manager. This song Opera 2 was written by a Russian singer Vitas who Dimash outdid in vocal range for the song and Vitas threatened to take him to court for singing his song. Dimash promised him to never sing another song of his again. I thought that was silly. It would have given new life to Vitas' career had he let him sing it and possibly sing it together. Dimash is very kind and humble that way. Dimash was in another competition and it was him against an 11 year old singer and a 12 year old piano player for 1 million dollars. There was a big brush ha ha about it because Dimash from the start asked if he would be competing against children because in his country they are taught to lift up children not to try to beat them down so he said he would not compete against kids. They show's producers told him he wouldn't be. The contestants were kept secret and when it got down to 3 Dimash saw the female singer. She was from his country and his family gave to the foundation that was helping her. Dimash withdrew from the show even though it was 1 million dollars and he was the likely winner. He refused to compete against not only one but 2 kids. The show was very angry. They tried to make Dimash look bad but people from the audience made UA-cam videos saying they heard more of the conversation and the show was trying to hurt Dimash. He came out of it looking much better than the show did by far. The show never had another season. He holds the record for highest note sung. It is a whistle note. He never sings a song the same way twice. In the 3-4 years that he has been around I have never once seen a bad review on him personally. No old classmates or old friends coming forward or hated family nembers. With the popularity he has you would expect someone to say something but I haven't seen anything but positive comments and reviews. I personally hope it stays that way! Oh, a few people have remarked that with a voice like that he wouldn't be able to do a duet or harmonize with other singers. You will discover that falsehood on your own when you do reactions. He went to a school of the arts and sang in choirs or groups so you would know he could harmonize just by that but some people need proof. He was also offered an opera position but declined it saying he wanted to make all kinds of music for all kinds of people. He says he sings mostly Neo- classical, but he can rap do pop, all kinds of music.

The more you watch, the more versatile you'll see he is. You're already a Dear. You underwent quite a transformation in S.O.S. You're right that he changes the performance a bit every time he sings the songs. Watching different versions is fine, but I'd try to cover more of his different songs in loosely chronological order so you'll see how he is growing.

Versatile? Oh yeah! You ain't seen nothing yet!! That's not an exaggeration! And Being a dear is just something you feel and not a label someone gives you. You don't earn it. You are a Dear when you love his music and you appreciate him. I'm not gonna hedge. I flat out love him. So if you feel you are a Dear, then you are one! And yes please please do more Dimash. You are a joy to watch. First song was in French and this one was in Russian. The 3rd song from the Singer completion is in English (mind you he doesn't speak English) and the 4th is in Chinese (and he doesn't speak Chinese either). This was 3 years ago. He became an overnight sensation in China from this comp and now has fans all over the world. He's done a ton of performances in China, Russia, and many concerts including one in London and one in New York. You have a lot to see yet. Keep going!!

I don't know if you already know or not but Dimash isn't just a fan of Michael Jackson , even though Dimash was classically trained since the age of 5 to be just like his mother an Opera singer , his love for Michael Jackson was the reason he turned down the chance to be a member of the third biggest Opera house in the world the Astana Opera so that he can mix his operatic style with the style of his Idol MJ the pop style .
And you can see that in a lot of his songs the pop and the opera together for first time .

Sorry for giving you the lie! It's not quite "the first time" in the world! In my country, Romania, Cezar Ouatu (countertenor, like Dimash, classically trained at Conservatory from Milano), performed a dub-step-pop-opera song in 2013, at Eurovision ("It's my life" - link down-below), and then he recorded, in a studio, a cover of "Cinema Paradiso" by Enio Morricone (also a link down-below). Of course, Cezar doesn't have a six-octave range like Dimash, but he has a very versatile voice.

I just discovered Dimash about a week ago. My mind is STILL blown. If ever there's a case of otherworldly voices, it would be Dimash's. It's like listening to an angel sing, isn't it. It'll surely make a girl ugly-cry.
What I love about this performance is that he didn't know his dad was in the crowd. When he found out he ran to hug him and one of the first things he asked is 'Dad, did I do good?' So freaking humble.

I recommend you "Ogni Pietra" on this one if you close your eyes you would think there are two singers on stage. Igor Krutoy the pianist ( the bald man, actually a really famous pianist ) composed this "master piece" just for Dimash because of his range. SOS is a song which is very important to him and he performs it in every concert and important events - there are so many unique versions.

Also Pavarotti. Personally, I am not a fan of MJ at all, and for me Dimash is on a completely different level as a vocalist and in terms of repertoire as well.
Melody Thanks for adding Pavarotti. I like Michael Jackson’s music and he’s a brilliant songwriter. It’s difficult to compare them as they and their music are different in so many ways. For me Dimash has the best voice ever and I don’t get cravings for MJ every day like I do Dimash!😍
@@vivienmc5983 I completely agree about Dimash himself. As to MJ - it's of course a matter of personal taste. I appreciate all the other names on Dimash's list and love listening to them (some more and some less) and in any case understand why they are considered great, but MJ is the only one who frankly bores me. Even when he was at his peak and I was a young girl I never understood why others are crazy about him - he left me completely indifferent.

Funny you should say that he looks like an anime character! He just announced yesterday that he is launching a new project... a series of Manga books featuring guess who? Yep, it will be called Dimash D’R’S (a play on the word Dears maybe?). Yet another birthday present for his Dears. I know it's not important for reacting, but there is a video which shows the few moments after he had finished Opera, when he spotted his dad who was there as a surprise, extremely sweet and touching. He asked his dad if he was good and they were hugging Dimash saying he is homesick and he wants to go home.... he was 22 then and all alone without his family in a country with a foreign lanague.... very touching video version. Opera - 2 is the song of Vitas or his producer. After Dimash’s performance of this song at the request of ”I’m Singer” directors, Vitas’ team became livid and wrote a letter to ”I’m Singer” that they would take the matter to the court if Dimash sang any song of Vitas any time and anywhere.

Barry, you are now an official Dear. Dimash not only has a gift from God, but has trained since the age of 5. He plays a number of instruments as well. He is also very humble and loves his Dears. He is quite kind and has been raised very well. His family has much to do with the man he is. He plays his native instrument, the dombra on the song Daididua. You will want the one where he is playing with many Kazakh musicians. It is amazing. I have yet to hear a song by him that isn't amazing. What I love about him most is how humble and caring he is. He makes sure to let his Dears know how much they mean to him. There are scences in airports where he gives his seats to elders standing. He stops to speak with his Dears in airports and at his concerts. And yes he is a Michael Jackson fan and he does some of his music such as Earth Song. Listen to Hello from the singer. He kills it.
