- I might be looking to add a second car to the channel while the GTI is being built, so I went to WeBuyCars to have a little browse and there were not happy about my camera.
Should I trade in my 7 GTI for Clubsport?

I think you shouldn't trade in the car. It might seem like it needs a lot of work now but the more work needs to be done, the more content you'll get. The more cars you have, the more content you gon film as well. So I say, continue filming your journey of a second whip. Find your top three cars that are within your budget, do a UA-cam poll and let the subscribers pick one. It's just a suggestion

What hits the focus RS's hardest are their head gaskets. For some odd reason ford had decided to put the 2.3 ecoboost head gasket out of the american ford ranger into the RS's. Which will a as a result of being a performance hatch they were driven hard and you can't safely or reliably do that with a head gasket made for a bakkie that was meant to rev to 5500rpms.
An engine doesn't give a damn whether it's in a hatch or bakkie, trust me they rev motors way beyond what their rev limits are in a car.
The headgasket issue happens when dodge mechanics overskim a head altering the compression ratio too much for the gasket to cope

All I was trying to say was that there was a "manufacturing" error where ford had put a different version head gasket out of the 2.3 ecoboost mustang and/or USDM ranger into the Focus RS.
You're not wrong about compression ratios, the 2.3 in the ranger/mustang was not designed to handle the higher rev limit and boost the RS does. Combined with a different block cooling design.
Long story short: wrong head gasket + complex/different block cooling channels design + different engine tunes(compression ratios, timing etc.) = bye bye head gasket and hello smokey exhaust(Internal cylinder head cooling) 😂😂
I think that Focus RS could also be a great buy. It's overlooked so much but if my memory serves me well I think it pumps out more power than the gti. The only downside is that it's a manual transmission.
For a real enthusiast, a manual gearbox isn't a downside. I always wished a 7r was manual
Jah i love the Rs too but the fact that it comes with a manual gearbox is a deal breaker for me too I mean who drives a manual it's 2023

That focus could have headgasket failure. Was a common issue on these RS models. Could be other mechanical issues, like lack of service records etc.
It's good you smelled something fishy, as many people search for a car, look at the cheapest example, and think its normal for them to be that price.
Also check out the f30 BMW 340i's they are currently around your price range, depending who you ask👀 They were one of the first bmw chassis to get the b58 engine, not too sure if they came with xdrive in SA. But trust me bro an email and a downpipe and ur good😂😂🤞, b58's are god sent. eating golf R's, mustangs and m140i's all day long.
