- Arranging a Thy Art Is Murder song has always been on my bucket list, so boom, here it is! Download it on my Bandcamp.
The two main reasons why I arranged Reign of Darkness was to create a little challenge for myself and to show you guys how two contrasting styles (deathcore and piano) can meet in the middle and STILL SOUND PLEASANT.
In order to achieve this, I mimicked the rhythms and melodies that are in the original and structured them in a way that allows them to compliment one another without it sounding 'wrong'. So, for example, in one section I play the rhythm of CJ's vocals but I create my own melody for them, and, I create my own melody in some areas of the guitar solo but maintain it's contours and tempo. Anyway, feel free to ask me literally anything in the comments about how I put this together. I could write like over 8,000 words on it, but I want to save that time and energy on my uni essay.

The most recognizable part of the original is where you play the drum sections. I understand how complicated this must have been (No I don't because I don't play piano, although it is my life goal to learn) so props to you for creating such a beautiful song from an equally beautiful yet entirely different song

Can you explain your general process of transcribing songs?
Hi! Yes, all my covers are in the same key as the original. When I start an arrangement, I first listen to the song, then I brainstorm parts of the song that I want to mimic either melodically/harmonically or rhythmically (or both). For example, say I listen to a breakdown. I'd like to play it's exact rhythm... however, I decide to change the notes/chords of it if I feel it may sound boring on piano. I still stick to the 'main chord' of the breakdown, but slightly alter the notes so that it keeps it interesting and has a unique Misstiq touch.
So, yeah I decide what I should keep that's in the original and what little part of it I should create as my own. I strategically have to keep in mind what the previous sections sounds like for the next section to sound pleasant too; so it flows. There's a lot to it, but I hope this makes sense!

Me too. I recognized the intro and the solo and the outro breakdown, but none of the riffs really. But it still sounds awesome though.
