  • Patrick Mullin of Gorilla Futures joins host Jim Cagnina to discuss how tick charts can expose trading opportunities that aren’t easily discernible using traditional time series charts. Patrick reviews several Tick chart settings that he finds essential to viewing different futures markets and offers insights for scalping, day trading, and swing trading using tick charts alone.

Ok. So I think I get your strategy, Patrick. You go to smaller tick charts to reduce your risk. If you can, for example see a two candle rejection on a 1000 tick chart and the same signal on a 4500 tick chart, then it has already moved more in the direction you anticipated on the larger tick chart at the close of that candle So you used the 1000 tick chart to get an earlier entry.

Chuck the idea behind using a faster chart is due to a few different factors. One being how fast/slow price is moving, on a slow day if im watching the 4500 chart then I might not see many signals so I would then drop down to the 1000 tick. Two by dropping down to a lower time frame I can try to take advantage of some of these smaller faster moves that aren't always seen on the 4500 tick. Thanks for watching!
