@@Starca11erbro it’s called clinching… it’s part of the sport. Matias was embarrassing out there… it felt like he went out there to disappoint the people on purpose
Matias was used to walking into a fight full of confidence and once the fight started if he saw that his opponent was afraid to pull the trigger and would start the first round just feeling him out he would immediately start throwing punches. Against Paro, he realized Paro wasn't afraid of him when he started throwing punches instead of being tentative and feeling him out. Once he saw that his usual game plan was out the window.
No he doesn’t 😂 most of his fights were against fighters not even known not even ranked and were in the mid to ealry/late 30s/40s he’s been beaten before this he just to flawed if you gonna be a pressure fighter atleast have some skills and defense like beanvdeiz and beterbeiv have
What a win for Paro. He went into the boogeyman's backyard and took his world title off him. It's gonna be interesting to see who he fights next. He probably won't get a unification fight next, so maybe the Hitchinson fight will be next.
@@kennyporterstoppedmyfight4561 he was still making undefeated super lightweights quit on their stool. PBCs match making was terrible, only after he signed with matchroom Cruz went up to 140. Rolly wanted no part of Matias

Australia has consistently managed to have boxers win world titles over the last 20 years! There's been more Aussie world champs in the last 20 years than the previous one hundred years before that! Paro is very good, Tim Tszyu is excellent and will win his title back and Jai Opetai is the best cruiserweight on the planet right now. 🇦🇺
I Won some cheddar on this fight taking a Paro line that i assumed was a mistake at +600 Paro by decision. Subriel fights like Lennox applying pressure hands down. Difference is, Lennox had a purpose for it and is considered one of the greatest heavyweight counter back foot punchers in history sporting a reach that was among the elite of his era and behind an equally revered jab. Matías applies front foot pressure marauding forward but his footwork already has been exposed. The thing with him has been two fold really that have shaped how he’s perceived: 1. The Caribbean amateur tag & 2. The unfortunate passing of Dadashev. The latter is a tough one as there are many factors. For instance Nigel Benn had a bit of this aura too after Gerald but people forget Benn had already been knocked down 3x already and the first completely out of the ring. And was up on 2/3 cards after 8 rounds when he took a knee and said something was wrong. It was only after what I’ll call questionable tactics did things noticeably change which is a convo for a different day. Point is, he wasn’t quite what we made him out to be only confirmed when Malinga avenged his split decision loss to Benn about a year after the Gman fight. Then Steve Collins mopped up Benn like it was absolutely nothing … twice. This retired him but he was only 32. Collins was the exact same age so it wasn’t that. As mentioned, Subriel has been wobbled badly. It’s likely guys he was in there with had no way to combat his pressure style only compounding the damage. And the former amateur tag was more subconsciously maybe imo by boxing media. When we see an older fighter from a Caribbean nation, we assume their amateur background is decorated. While he had an extensive amateur background by all reports, it wasn’t filled with notable hardware that I’m aware of world class wins that I’ve seen verified. Atleast any of major note. but I could be wrong. This wasn’t like Rigo or his countrymen Camacho before going pro. Or even Cotto who never went to the Olympics either but won Pan Ams and only lost defending that honor at lightweight to probably the greatest amateur of all time in Kindelán who also already beaten Amir Khan twice, Kotelnik, and Felix Trinidad. Subriel’s lack of ring cutting was really apparent in his loss to Ananyan where he was nearly dropped too. Paro just cemented this fact. If you can compensate for that pressure with tactical scoring boxing and good movement, Matia’s’ only answer seems to be more recklessness which is why I think if they rematched it actually would be incredible simply for how aggressive I think Subriel would be. As I’ve said on your video from 3 months ago covering Subriel, against the top of the division, he’d be dropped pretty quickly. Wouldn’t be an easy nights work but you simply can’t just blindly walk into range against guys who are downloading all your weaknesses and using them against you to end a fight.
Couldn’t pay too much attention because it was at the same time as Tank/Frank. Didn’t see anything from Matias and a lot from Paro in the few rounds I did see.
When subrias fought ergashev, he literally was losing until 3 Million IQ ergashev decided to trade with him. Makhmudov was exposed by Carlos Takam, when he couldnt get him early he got frustrated, despite that, he won. And Lara became another Andy Ruiz JR, the biggest moment of his career and he fumbles it next fight
I'd be very interested in a rematch between Matias and Paro. I don't think it will go the distance the 2nd time. Was a great fight with near constant punches being thrown. I see comments here giving Matias crap, but dude threw over 600 punches, and landed over 30%. Its not like he wasn't trying, its just Paro knew how to do an inside game, and turn him a lot which prevents him from sitting on his punches more. That said, Paro had to dig deep to survive rounds 6 and 7, it was really close a couple times. In a rematch, I imagine one of the two fighters figured something out, and fresh vs fresh one of them is getting KOd. Kinda like the Wood vs Lara rematch.
I remember everybody talking down in Puerto Rico about how Subriel was fighting in the island and was gonna beat his opponent. And like I told everybody, his defense is his down fall. I always compared him with Tito Trinidad fighting style. He would get hurt but get the knockout, if not he would lose by decision. Is the same fate.
