@@Training_Racehorses Hi Martin, Hoping this finds you well. I wondered, if you have a moment or two(!) whether you could post up the 'correct way to lay a bed of shavings,' now I have the mucking out sussed?
I used flat cow mats, and a light layer of shavings with more away from where he's peed. So he lies on the heavier shavings area. I clear out the wet patch and then when dry, cover with any shavings moved around by the horse or add a small layer. I buy about 10 bags and they've lasted me 4-5 months.
I always learned that about shavings new in bank I knew a lady once who would put a lot of the wet shavings out to dry in sun then use again also she would run into stable everytimethe horse weed and catch it in a bucket 😅😅😂
Tip: put rubber gloves on and pick up the really small droppings with your hands, saves even more shavings!!
I've never used gloves in my life. Good video but he's still throwing too many clean shavings in the wheelbarrow. I agree, use your hands.
That’s a nice bed!
Very helpful, I used to be accused of putting my used shavings in a pillow case and taking them home to wash- me, tight? Never 🤣
Lol 😂
Thanks so much for this. Due to be rehoming an ex race horse soon and this couldn't be more helpful!
That’s great to hear, pleased I could help 😊

I always used marigold gloves and a washing basket. Works great

Is that a metal fork and is it 10 tines or 6? Thank you , very helpful video
It’s a metal shavings fork, a bit like this one…

Hi ,
how many times a day should cleaning be done?
once or twice, depending on how many of your staff turn up for work.
I think the horse likes the taste of the lead rope xD
