The challenge of acquiring blood without breaking the Masquerade is central to the whole VtM experience. So ... even if it turns out to be a good game, it still won't be a good *VtM* game, IMO.

Not Larian, just no. I love them for their games, the Divinity series as well as the 3rd Baldur's Gate, but those games are great for what they are, non of them is an action RPG from a World of Darkness settings, they are turn based strategies/RPGs. VtM-B shouldn't be that. Larian has no experience with that genre (that's why they made BG3 turn based as well, despite both previous BG games were RTwP and not turn based), so better get a more competent studio for the project instead. Someone, who's more experienced with this stuff.

Of course they did. The "right minded" people were too busy playing videogames to even notice that the enemy was taking control of the entire society. Complacency is deadly.
I don't think I'll ever forgive these people for destroying the great things from my youth. Starwars, star trek, Dr who, so many great games franchises.... all trash now.
I dont really think the problem is "wokeness" . The problem is that these people are trying to force every character into one category and then ignore actual characterization. For instance, new movies coming out that are all about GiRl POwEr, always have incredibly boring characters and plots because its all a show, its shallow and uninteresting. Plus they always make the same shit "Im a WomAN, HeaR me rOAr" and "im the man of the show and im incredibly stupid all the time, hear her roar" which is the same problem as before, with the roles reversed this time... Genuinely strong characters that HAPPEN to be female, are usually found in either older movies that cared about quality and not cash grabs or in the very few, rare cases of modern media like Arcane, that has an amazing story and the characters are allowed to also be flawed, dirty, vulgar etc. Also just being real with you, its nice seeing all these new character designs because it does give you options to customise and relate to. But they are almost always really empty as characters :( TLDR: the problem isnt always wokeness, its predatory corporations that want to make quick money off of trends and making shitty characters and plots as a result.
@@mariaxr.7281 There's no such thing as "as before". Wokeness has always been a problem; normal gender roles have not. Predatory corporations are just opportunists ready to make money on the wokeness.
@@mariaxr.7281You're totally right. If something is "woke" but it's really good, people barely even notice. Eg, Across the Spiderverse, Arcane, etc. It's only really sucks when corporate hacks with no creative ability write a bunch of woke garbage with no good meaning, story or characters to back it up. Eg, She Hulk, modern Star Trek, etc. Anything can be good, if effort is actually made.
I'm not frustrated because this game looks terrible. It does. I'm not frustrated about the forever-wait. It has been. I'm frustrated because their ideas are bad. Brian Mitsoda & Chris Avellone might have come up with something great if the first dev studio had actually, you know, tried. Now it's a joke. Paradox management have descended into the realms of EA greed/mismanagement sometimes in recent years. It's a very bad sign. Imagine having such a revered IP and trying to just kick something out the door? It's like if Baldurs Gate 3 was just a "who cares, do it in 6 months" job.
It sucks because the literature for this could have set it up to be a massive massive hit. The clan books and politics alone attached to it could have been story content for days and days of gameplay and replay value. Huge ball drop here.
Original composer? Bro... VTM:B had a mix of music from quite a few artists... (or are we calling the guy who selects the musical tracks for the game a composer?) besides, this will fail because of DEI... also... Paradox? DLC galore....
This game is supposed to come out this year, and in 5 months it will be December. We have yet to see any gameplay loop linked to an RPG: influence of clans in dialogues, influence of dialogues and skills on events, character creation tools, masquerade system, morality and bestiality, factions in the city , plot. None of this has been addressed since January 2024. The only thing we've been offered is poorly written Fallout 4-style dialogue and generic fights in a flashy-colored warehouse. For me, this game is a complete work in progress and has tried to slowly lead to pre-orders on the only thing that more or less holds water: the combat and a protagonist who speaks (and given the reaction of the fans, it's a total failure). Given the lack of communication outside of a discreet developer blog since the very negative feedback from the community, I think this project will slowly fall into oblivion. And that will be a good thing.
Sad thing about this is I can see how any one working on this game would take this as overly negative criticism but that does not change the fact that everything this man has said in video is absolutely true. I truly wish I could find a small group of like minded developers sit in a room exchange ideas until a spititual successor for bloodlines could be made and just start a whole new vampire rpg narrative maybe a little healthy competition would make them stop taking such a great IP for granted.
How can be Bloodlines be a fantastic game. I got the bug wher you crash on the drive to the last mission 2 times. And the Save file was corruptet at the start of the game .... The first game came out 20 years ago. Time has changed and graphics, why would you want something close to the old game. I do agree that character creation could be better.
The problem that i have with bloodlines 2 is that it looks more like an action adventure with smalltalk than a roleplaying game. Also that Skills and Attributes are missing form the character screen shows that for me. The curse of bloodlines continued... P.S. BUT i know that there are great modders out there that can make the game like it should be if it is not like we did with bloodlines!

Never played the first one, so I don't have any expectations. I like the aesthetics of the world and vampires and stuff, and the gameplay looks passable. I don't mind having a premade character. It'll be like Commander Shepherd where you can still roleplay as that character, and that's fine by me. I'll probably be waiting for a pretty heavy discount, but I'll be picking the game up at some point.
Heard that the War Games dev have just made a prequel of the Original Bloodlines game, about basically how Lacroix became Boss in SM. Lets wait for that instead of this baloney.
even if bloodlines 2 were to get into the hands of a decent developer, it would still be bad because they have the IP owners white wolf to contend with, and they are about as woke as you can get. they'll 100% demand that any developer has LGBTQIASDAQWERTYUIOP representation and other things too like climate change and all that other stuff same thing likely happened with BG3, you a lot of pro-leftist stuff in that game in the later chapters, but nothing of the sort in larian's previous games. why? because WOTC likely wanted a certain amount of representation. same will happen for bloodlines.

@@esteldan Then you do a full remake in Unreal 5. Still better than this.
Everyone involved in the creation of Bloodlines 2 should be forced to play Bloodlines 1 ASAP....
Then they could get an idea of what an awesome character looks like... for example Lacroix, Jack, the twins... ^^
I can't think of any character I'd describe as crappy in Bloodlines 1. They all had an RPG soul. 🖤
Also, I want to play as a male Nosferatu and have the NPCs react repulsively to me, not this whatever "she" is ....
It should be a requirement, if not a fan at least that they respect the source material.
Wait....Phyre, isn't Nosferatu?!

Do you know the Nosferatu from the trailers? Not the "fat" one with the huge mouth, but the smiling one with the hump. I'd love to be able to play him instead of that weird chick.

I don't think it actually will. No one really wants it to now anyways.
No Malkavians makes me not want to get the game dlc or not.
Redfall 2 electric boogaloo
Pretty much.
That's what I was thinking.
Yeah.
Paradox is a MAJOR problem in the industry these days. They're SBI through and through.
That is disappointing and depressing. I knew they were making really incompetent and greedy decisions in recent years, but didn't know they'd gone full SBI.

Sweet baby inc, basically a woke blackmail firm.
The devs lost me when they talked about "combat feeding" as being an integral and rewarding part of the gameplay loop. This just doesn't fit anything I've seen of Vampire the Masquerade. The challenge of acquiring blood without breaking the Masquerade is central to the whole VtM experience. So ... even if it turns out to be a good game, it still won't be a good *VtM* game, IMO.
Is there some pen and paper rule about this or something? Cuz you could feed on combat in the first game.
@@zzxp1there is a table top game as well but I'm with you, combat feeding was key to my caster play through
Seems like the same as DA4 and Avowed. Simplified for modern audiences and most features being worse or non-existent compared to its predecessor.
Focus on "cinematic" feel instead of mechanical depth and player choice.
I don't know who is this for, the old fans aren't going to be happy with it and what's the selling point for a non-fan? I don't see this game doing good.
Please, don't give me hope.
I'll just keep playing the original Bloodlines & Vampyr.
It's locked alright.
Man, I dusted off Vampyr recently...What a blast that game is! I often imagine exactly that, but with the V:tM fluff, lore and disciplines...Just imagine how awesome that would be!
Is Vampyr good? I heard it wasn't that great. Was that incorrect?
@@ChallengerBanX It's a decent AA quality Vampire themed RPG; not a high bar since such games are rare. But it's better than any game that's come from the World of Darkness in recent memory. It has a compelling story & interesting characters; progression is a bit of a grind and the combat is janky - hey, no game is perfect. If you like RPGs and you enjoy stories based on vampires it's definitely worth a try; if not - best to leave it be.
@@ChallengerBanX I second @elimpoluto9952 's comment. It's good fun for a lazy day, story and characters are pretty good imo; "souls-like" combat is good and it has some sweet world building and vampire lore. If you want to scratch your vampire RPG itch with a bit of really good fun, and even play out your monstrosity, give it a try!
They will get it out, try to sell you two dlc for Full price and then blame the youtuber CMs and the isst and phobs Fans for the epic Fail.
Please Larian, make a vtm game!
No.
no, they can't do story to save their lives and their cringe comedy style would ruin it
Hopefully there is a mod to mute the character name its so cringe
or replace is with 'Alucard' :)
It looks like everyone was expecting fallout new Vegas and instead are getting fallout 4
Fallout 4 is way better than this tho😢
Paradox is a cancer upon gaming. Just another soulless corporation.
Hopefully it will be delayed three times and finally cancelled. That's kind of funny.
this game is cursed by the tremere, its covered in blood and never coming out
I feel like a case could be made for friggin false advertisement at this point. It's not Bloodlines 2.
Activists have succeeded in getting ahold of most big and beloved western IP's. Never again, the gatekeeping will have to be on another level in the near future.
But they are almost always really empty as characters :(
TLDR: the problem isnt always wokeness, its predatory corporations that want to make quick money off of trends and making shitty characters and plots as a result.
Camarilla won't allow the game release.
I'm not frustrated because this game looks terrible. It does. I'm not frustrated about the forever-wait. It has been. I'm frustrated because their ideas are bad. If your ideas are bad, and everything you know is wrong, it doesn't matter what your execution is going to be. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. I'm doubly frustrated because I've been running Vampire the Masquerade games at my tabletop for 20 years, and I could write circles around these bozos.
When I saw the gameplay reveal it gave me Redfall vibes, it's boring, bland, safe, generic...
Wait so we cant just make our own character again like bloodlines 1? Im so confused now lately
Nope. And you also have a voice in your head that talks to you through the whoooole game, through everything. Unnecessary comments, opinions & suggestions to baby guide you through decisions you must choose. 😓
@@IanEskelson they have completely lost the soul that made bloodlines 1 SO PERFECT. The freedom, the dialogue options, and the sheer random side quests u could randomly find

I forgot this game existed wasn't it supposed to come out like 10 years ago? I thought it was cancelled.
It probably should be
Brian Mitsoda & Chris Avellone might have come up with something great if the first dev studio had actually, you know, tried.
(or are we calling the guy who selects the musical tracks for the game a composer?)
besides, this will fail because of DEI...
also... Paradox? DLC galore....
Didn't have to reinvent the wheel.. didn't have to do much at all! It just had to work
Wait so is it coming out
This game is supposed to come out this year, and in 5 months it will be December.
It had many save and game breaking buggs. The Studio was broke before they could be fixed. One of the developers did fix most of serious bugs in seven years of his privat time. Your to young to know. Seems this game is continuing the legacy of bloodlines and world of darkness online ...
The only way to support the choice of a pre-made character was to call back Christof Romuald of VTMR.
Anyway, to me, VTMB2 doesn't exist... I will never buy it.
Stop givin them excuses HS labs game play was 100 times better then what they showed its the devs fault
Idc if making a game is hard its there fucking job
The first game came out 20 years ago. Time has changed and graphics, why would you want something close to the old game. I do agree that character creation could be better.

I'm reinstalling Skyrim to play that VtM conversion mod. My only hope for a decent WoD game.
Chris alone would have made sure it was at least written well and kept accurate to the lore now who knows now
I'm sorry, but how stupid does someone have to be to pre-order games these days? :D
The problem that i have with bloodlines 2 is that it looks more like an action adventure with smalltalk than a roleplaying game. Also that Skills and Attributes are missing form the character screen shows that for me. The curse of bloodlines continued...
P.S. BUT i know that there are great modders out there that can make the game like it should be if it is not like we did with bloodlines!
kind of like how people made a fan made patch for the original
we still beating that same dead horse?
Bloodlines are dead, Deal with it.
After playing Still wakes the Deep if they do like that yes it was hubs then yes it could be release this year but closer to Nov or Dec. but that is all I'm expecting from this Game I gave up calling it Bloodlines 2 in Jan. 2024 But Yeah full on Here a Hub go through this Door to the Next Hub then so on and so on until the story Ends in 8 hours and your Questioning what you played but can go back though with all the Other Clans, play it with all clans 40 Hours tops. If you must know Just think this that Warehouse was pretty Much Named Warehouse Hub world 1,2 & 3.
Paradox are woke. They killed Homeworld 3 with a story about 3 karens...
They are just a bunch of capitalists trying to get easy money of their IPs
Stop putting the blame on some "woke" stuff
I think it's in EVERYONE'S best interest that this game is delayed at least another year.
even if bloodlines 2 were to get into the hands of a decent developer, it would still be bad because they have the IP owners white wolf to contend with, and they are about as woke as you can get.
they'll 100% demand that any developer has LGBTQIASDAQWERTYUIOP representation and other things too like climate change and all that other stuff
same thing likely happened with BG3, you a lot of pro-leftist stuff in that game in the later chapters, but nothing of the sort in larian's previous games. why? because WOTC likely wanted a certain amount of representation. same will happen for bloodlines.
just wanna ask you in the first act there is no wokeness like at all but as soon as we enter act 2 we see some lesbians and gay not a big deal but the third act my god theres drag queen tranny and I kkid you not I saw a guard female with full beard I honestly thought it was abug but it was intentional. If what you say is true that would make a lot of sense as to why act 3 is full of lgbt stuff
True and at the End all creativ Rights on all that is created in the WoD belongs to Paradox. So you as a Dev have not even the final Word on your own work.

@@neuropantser5 Do you ever have anything useful to say or is ad-hominem all you ever do? If you think the OP is incorrect, then explain to him why. From everything I have seen the OP is correct, as IP holders seem to demand 3SG c0mpliance, especially at the later end of the development cycle. At best, this slightly tarnishes a great product (e.g., BG3), while at worst it contributes to destroying a product (e.g., Forspoken). Either way, it is the sanitization of creativity.

So aside from the legitimate development and financial concerns......you're just falling into the same nostalgia-trip complaints that E V E R Y O N E else is touting.
I'll say this, lots of games are falling short, but I'll tell you why; none of you know what you want. Not really. You expect every single thing to wow you beyond any possible expectation and if the product doesn't immediately fill you with unimaginable excitement, it's worthless.
Temper your expectations. Give things a damn chance and MAYBE you'll have a better time. I've watched the gameplay trailer and personally I think it looks just a few notches above decent. Voice work was reasonably good, graphics were cool.
So tell me, instead of complaining about it, WHAT do you want?
A halfway decent story would be a good start. Maybe a protagonist whose name didn't sound like it was ripped straight from a thirteen year-old's Twilight fan-fiction? You know, little things like that.
