Just beautiful - and wonderful to hear it in a proper, big acoustic with the dynamic range correctly captured - which is so rare in recordings of this work. This is a stonking version of this symphony - the best I've heard.
Mon Dieu! Latry is such a God of the organ.... this orchestra and the organ with Latry in
command is magnificent!!! BRAVO! JPW
Breathtaking Performance. Beats all others I have heard.
I had dinner with Olivier and our organist, David Dalke (may he R.I.P) in Pasadena CA, USA back in the early 1990's after he played a recital on the Lake Ave. Church Casavant. This brings back fond memories.
sublissime interprétation . Je n en reviens pas !
Next Friday 4.12.2015 in De Doelen Rotterdam (Netherlands) with Olivier Latry!
Lookin' forward to it!
@Paulus T you are so right!!! :-) it's so beautiful... I've never heard such a great music as this! Many combinations between orchestra and organ.. I am astonished! ^_^
I m proud to be french just for this piece of music
+Bastien Delagneau You should be proud to be French for Franck, Widor, Vierne, Dupre, Boellman, Guilmant, and Cavialle-Coll, Cliquot who produced the organ on which some of the greatest music ever written can be played. We must include the thousands of artisans who built those incredible buildings in which those organs stand, on which that music was written.
+Bastien Delagneau Poor guy, being proud of other people's performances.
People experience this feeling especially when their own achievements count to zero. Get a life !!
+Bastien Delagneau Moi aussi!
+robert shaw I always thought Franck was Belgian. Oh well. You have failed to mention Faure, Durufle, Alain, Lefebure-Wely and ........ um .......... ah! Gounod. Or was he Belgian?
Gounod was Belgian for a reason? Explain thysel, Maestro Corston.
Gratulálok, Andris!
Gyönyörű.
Sublime !!!
Grandiose!

Which Organ is this??
And here I thought 21:28 was the famous part.
I love this music, but this is a video channel. Where is the video?
+HJR The video is a never-ending picture of Saint-Saens until the finale, when he becomes Olivier Latry.
Better than a music composed by Hans Zimmer ! ;)
+Bastien Delagneau Yes, well that's not difficult, is it.
hans zimmer is phillip glass if he got hit by a rock in the head
Has the Organ Symphony ever been arranged as a ballet?
+Juan Jose Morales Yes, I did it last night. Texting Darcy Bussell right now.
This is supposed to be the organ symphony. Why, then, is the organ, especially in the 3rd movement, dominated by the orchestra? Almost every version of this piece is the same. It should be orchestra with organ accompaniment.
well.... simply becouse is just not written. there is an organ part only in the adagio and the finale
+Davide Lucchi otherwise will be an organ concerto...
+Davide Lucchi Ok, I still ask - why is it called the organ symphony when it is not even a concerto. The point is, the organ does not play a major role in a piece referred to as "The organ symphony" Just thinking out loud, if you will.
+robert shaw The "official" name is Symphonie avec orgue. That is not the same as Organ symphonie.
+robert shaw I always thought it was just Symphony in C minor, and gradually became known as the 'Organ' symphony because of er.........the organ in the finale, I suppose. Trebles all round.
Beautiful, but played too slowly.
+David G. Hawkins Only a little, perhaps. But he certainly gives the organ some welly.
Tess Gregory
I'm used to the 1959 BSO Münch/Zamkochian performance.
Wow! I can't beat that, David.
it is slower due to the reverberence of the space.
