I went through an extremely difficult break up at the beginning of this year and although I’m over it by now, I still feel the pain from back then while listening to this song. It was humiliating, but it feels good to know that there are people out there that went through a hard break up as well. Some memories will always stick with you. This song has become my comfort song. It was there for me on many sleepless nights and has calmed me out of many panic attacks. To be honest I don't think this song is about a break up. Call me spooky but whenever I hear this song I hear it more as a song about a lover who died, maybe from suicide. I dunno, the lines "You wore when you ran away; no one could feel your hurt." sound really deep to me. Maybe the ghost of the lover is a shadow of them when they were alive, and the person singing is seeing them as a part of mourning.

...really? It sounds odd to say this because Luke is my favorite singer in the group, but I was honestly taken aback by how little the other guys sing on the album. Given how this album is a lot more groove-centric than their other albums and thus requires more complex guitar and bass work, it makes sense that Luke does the most of the vocals, but I've always enjoyed how their voices played off each other and how they were distinct from each other and that was mostly lost in this album. Calum and Michael mostly just do backing vocals, and I couldn't tell if Ashton sang a word on it. Not hating, though. I think the album is really great.

With the lipstick, I feel like they are saying that they lipstick stain is fading away because they have changed. The boys have become more mature and are not the same teenagers and that is what this song is referencing. This song involves many metaphors that match up with their old songs to show that they are still the same, and they always will be, but through the years, they have experienced change and have grown more understanding and mature. To me, that is what this song is saying, that they haven't lost themselves while being famous. Invisible pt 2? What if this song isn't about a break up but rather someone singing about losing the one they love to suicide? Invisible was really a song about a suicide note. This song says things like "no one could feel your hurt" and in invisible, it obviously said they felt like they were invisible. It also says "found that old zeppelin shirt you wore when you ran away" and in invisible it says "I was already missing before the night I left." I feel like this person is deeply hurt by the loss and almost refuses to believe they are actually gone. That would explain why they haven't thrown out the coffee that they might have drank the day they past. Its almost like they keep going back to things that were said in the note (lyrics of invisible) and trying to make sense of it all. It's such a sad yet beautiful song and I am in love. I love how this albums vocals everything isn't just Luke.
...really? It sounds odd to say this because Luke is my favorite singer in the group, but I was honestly taken aback by how little the other guys sing on the album.
Given how this album is a lot more groove-centric than their other albums and thus requires more complex guitar and bass work, it makes sense that Luke does the most of the vocals, but I've always enjoyed how their voices played off each other and how they were distinct from each other and that was mostly lost in this album. Calum and Michael mostly just do backing vocals, and I couldn't tell if Ashton sang a word on it.
Not hating, though. I think the album is really great.

Even though this song came out in 2018 it gives me those nostalgic vibes I usually only get from songs I used to hear as a little kid, (early 2000's). It almost makes me tear up.
i never thought in a million years that 5sos would make me feel this emotional ever again. i strayed away from them for a long time and i regret that a lot. they're so talented and their music just really speaks to whoever is listening to it and just god... im also really happy that all the guys are being included now, and not just luke.

I feel like all of these references to the old songs have more meaning to them. Whether these references are intentional or not, I believe that they are metaphors. With the lipstick, I feel like they are saying that they lipstick stain is fading away because they have changed. The boys have become more mature and are not the same teenagers and that is what this song is referencing. This song involves many metaphors that match up with their old songs to show that they are still the same, and they always will be, but through the years, they have experienced change and have grown more understanding and mature. To me, that is what this song is saying, that they haven't lost themselves while being famous. That they still appreciate all of the songs and the achievements that have gotten them to where they are today. The ghost of you being the old them, the teenagers. Just a thought

Invisible pt 2?
What if this song isn't about a break up but rather someone singing about losing the one they love to suicide? Invisible was really a song about a suicide note. This song says things like "no one could feel your hurt" and in invisible, it obviously said they felt like they were invisible. It also says "found that old zeppelin shirt you wore when you ran away" and in invisible it says "I was already missing before the night I left." I feel like this person is deeply hurt by the loss and almost refuses to believe they are actually gone. That would explain why they haven't thrown out the coffee that they might have drank the day they past. Its almost like they keep going back to things that were said in the note (lyrics of invisible) and trying to make sense of it all. It's such a sad yet beautiful song and I am in love.

As a very young widow (25) to a PTSD related suicide this song hit home in so many ways, actually thought that might be what it was about.
i think it’s not always losing someone to suicide. this song can relate to losing someone by anything. it can be suicide or maybe accident or they were just leaving for good.
and ghost is not always related to someone’s death. it can be someone’s absence.
