There are some exceptions to niche market profitability and resilience. For example, I've sold thousands of $$ of 1950s & 1960s vintage nightgowns and they always sell and they only grow in value - supply and demand; although they are getting harder and harder to source, they are impervious to market shifts, etc. Furthermore, the US is one of the few places they are preserved, usually found in old estate closets and thrift shops. I have a global client base because so many people around the world can't access them anywhere but online. Also, although I've been a niche hobbyist seller on ebay for over 20 years, I've learned more from you about sell-through rate than anyone. Thank you Jake!
I was asked if I wanted left over clothing from an estate sale for free. Scored about 30 plus size vintage nightgowns & mumus new with tags. Many dresses pants also nwt. I know to list nightgowns 1st now. Thank u
I have not started an ebay account yet, still just selling on Facebook marketplace but I've found that pet crates, pet fences, baby portable cribs and walkers with seats sell within a week or two at a 300-400 % profit.
In one of your videos you mentioned having a lot of draft items in eBay. A tip I found out when I did this was if the item is NWT or NWOT, put that at the end of the title. You want to enter the titles so you can sort them alphabetically. I had a box of 40 items and 45 drafts. It was nearly impossible to determine which were duplicates because you can't search your drafts. You can sort by the columns but only by ascending or descending. Once I took out all the titles that started with NWT or NWOT, it was easy to determine the duplicates and erase them.
Great point about 'everything' sellers. I have primarily sold in niche markets and while very profitable, they are very susceptible to varying market conditions.
Picked up a Bose AV 321 system yesterday, center cd/dvd player, sub, two speakers, remote and cord for $35! I want to keep it but man it will be hard to not piece out or resell it.
High sell through rate...got it. You're right BUT it's the sourcing. These items (ray bans and Bose speakers) are just not in my thrift stores. Ray Dunn is 😮 I think instead of always talking about amazing sell through rates, UA-camrs would address over saturation of resellers in thrift stores...maybe different sourcing methods or categories--a Sony dvd player is a unicorn to me!!
That won't happen for a while yet. When that happens, it will have the same effect as it did on thrift stores. You can't give the secrets until you move on to the newest thing.
I want to thank you for your videos. Your wisdom and encouragement has given me the skills I need to step out in faith and start a small eBay business to help support our family. How do test film cameras and remotes or do you sell them as untested? My best resale so far has been finding three vintage Revere Ware copper bottom pans new in box. I bought all three for a total of $50 and sold them each for over a $100 profit.
Thanks so much for your insights on this! I sell more collectible items, and sales have just stopped pretty much this month. I try to branch out, but hard for me on electronics.
Thanks for another helpful video. I totally agree with your approach to reselling. I'm looking forward to your video about developing sourcing contacts!
do you have a video showing how to ship golf clubs and the supplies needed to do so? I'm asking because i have around 300 ping golf clubs, some new and some slightly used
I see a ton of curling irons at the thrift stores but never know which brands are decent. It's on my short list of things I want to get better knowledge on
Heyloo I love all your shorter videos can please go over how you figure out the sell through rate on the eBay app I have been looking for a place where is show the number of search results on the listed and sold page and haven’t found it if it really is that I just have to scroll and count that’s fine I was just wondering if there was a quicker way to see it when sourcing thank you so much.
Would love for you to make more videos of you shopping for items especially mens clothing so we can still get more ideas of what you talk about that sells good on ebay. 30 min in length would be great lol
Since electronics will not be on my list due to my zero knowledge, I need to find something else to make good money, and that probably would be golf clubs, as we live in rural resort area, golf courses are around each cornet, often sold on garage sales. So Jake, could you please please make a video on golf clubs, what goes and how to ship them. Thank yoooouuuu!
Electronics are about 95% of all my sales. I have extensive electronic knowledge. However, anything else, and I am lost in the sauce...lol. I tried clothing, but that didn't work out...lol. I will just stick with electronics.
I learn so much from ypu, as a new seller, I am going to follow your business model because obviously it works! Impatiently waiting on a video with sourcing information! Thank you for your brain power!
Hi! I have a question for you: When I end listings that have been there for ever in order to refresh the algorithm, what works best: To put them back active just like they were or use the or to sell similar using the same format, just making a few changes ? Many Thxs!
Thanks for this style of video mate. Ive recently been pushed into fulltime reselling (lost my job due to mental health injury) so i need to make this work. Some great contacts will be key for me to succeed. Will keep teying until i get there 🤙👍
@@JrideFlips I will check him out thank you . We have been mainly sourcing from the bin’s . Spring is upon us in Chicago so garage sale season will be here soon . Keep up the good work
Love your math and strategies. As a fairly new full-time reseller, I’m approaching my business with similar logic. I’d love to keep my inventory below 500 with a goal of 100% sell thru as well. Any insights into how to churn older inventory? Do you subscribe to the end listing and sell similar with a dropped price? I’m wondering how much time/energy I should be putting into selling older items. I’m not sure looking everything up again to see current sell-thru rates is the best use of my time. I’m considering just pulling anything over 180 days that’s listed for under $20(?) and donating it. That will open up shelf space for new, better quality items. Thanks!! Amy
Just found you a couple weeks ago and I’ve been watching your videos so yesterday I went and bought a Samsung remote and Magnavox remote and a Kodak EasyShare camera, I’m not sure how to see if they’re working or not or do you just sell them as it is thank you so much!
Turn the camera on your phone on and point the remote into the screen. If you see the remote light up then it is sending a signal and considered working.
I have a old Marlboro camera but the batteries that were left in there are stuck and corroded . It was a promo camera for Marlboro. Is it sale able? lol 😂
On the really bad condition items, do you also send a private message to be 100% sure they actually read the description? I am scared to list stuff in bad condition because people don't bother reading much these days.
Great video! What boxes do you use for bats? I know they need to go ups now but i struggle with shipping time with them because i use flat stock sheets cut to make triangle boxes. Its taking way to long 😢
are u sending those bats with the usps priority mail boxes? it's so expensive to send thru priority. I had a customer accept an offer on a bat and didn't realize it was gone cost $40 to ship from Cali to NY and ended up canceling
those golf clubs aernt gonna sell they are pretty dated question is there a reason you dont do the auction option? i dont want shit siting around for 80 days at my house
You should make a video on how you pack and ship larger items like the golf clubs, tennis rackets and bats to get the lowest shipping cost.
Try a 4x4x48 boxes for golf clubs and bats. Cut them down to fit proper length. And ship UPS ground.
My side hustle has officially taken off thanks to you! Listing my 100th item and 25 sold one month in!
What solds are some of my favorite to watch. They have opened my eyes to lots of items I would have never thought about picking up.
Awesome they’re one of my favorites to create so that’s good to hear
Same
I would much rather buy a crypto gift card from eBay with my credit card 😁

@@nancyholmes7012 oh gosh, let me list them for you and I'll just buy the whole lot!! 🤣🤣
Would love to see a video of how you pack and ship the DVD, VCR, etc players. I leave these behind a lot just from the shipping part.
@jrideflips I second that. It would be great to see what type of boxes you use and what packing materials you use since you sell so many.
Try a 20x15x6 box. Wrap 3 times in 5/16 bubbles wrap. Fill any empty space with packing paper.
So true about the bed, I bought a $3500 Tempurpedic years back, and it's a gamechanger! Love the content, thanks!

Really like your videos. If you don't mind me asking how do you keep track of your inventory?
Amen on the best bed you can afford! An amazing night’s sleep means you start the day ready to take on the world.
I echo the comments saying the "What's sold videos" are some of my favorites. Very helpful.
Great video. How do you package golf clubs, bats, etc? Long skinny cardboard boxes? Thanks. Really enjoy your channel.
Yes, i am trying to improve my sleep habits. A new bed is definitely my next purchase. Thanx!
I agree. Fast moving and profitable. Those two things trump everything else.

great video …. having a good selection of niches is good - you knows what sells
Jake, time to double check that dish 40.0. Sold shows max $12. I was so excited to list mine but ugh…
Always appreciate your sharing. I have found some amazing deals thanks to your past videos about how to source other than at thrift stores.
Always informative! Love the what sold videos! I have picked up a few things you suggested!!
