Quietude1

I didn't want to make another fucking album. If I had physical representations of all the music I have released digitally over the past twenty years; I could build myself a reasonably sized Aboriginal hut and live quite comfortably fishing.
That does not seem to be my current reality but perhaps the Joe in Universe 2,046 is reaping the benefits of whatever I'm doing here (layabout that he is..)
I cannot assume that anyone has made it this far as reading is concerned. If you are indeed one of the rare few, please pat yourself on the back and accept my gratitude and praise.
The impulse to record this album came after extensive journaling. To me, that is not only surprising, but disconcerting. Why? Because I did not and still do not feel as though I have anything to say.
With my apprehension in mind, I decided to apply personal principals revolving around my interest in the visual arts. I am not formally trained in visual mediums and am more than happy to continue in my ignorance.
As hard as it is for me to apply this in music (as I am formally trained), this album is a representation of my attempt to use such principals.
There was zero pre-planning involved. The sung lyrics and spoken word are improvised with the exception of Quietude 6 in audio form (Quietude 5 in video) which is a sample of someone narrating Job 29.
I honored no specific key signature, consonant intervallic distance, or had incredible concern for spot on vocal intonation.
As far as I can tell, I have no intention of attempting to replicate these musical events in a live setting.
I was put to work by the invisible. I am honoring the process to this point of completion. Once the sharing is done, I will get back to feeding birds and attempting to fix my car.
