Bought my 7980XE at 700€ new and sealed from Ebay the other day, while a 3950X which I first took into consideration was 900€+ on Ebay. Even now 2 weeks later the 3950X is still way above 800€ in Europe ...
The security breaches that only can be used with local hardware access and never have been used once worldwide before they have been fixed aren't really relevant for me and should not be an argument if you are not a so called "fanboy". While the server market could not care less and buys 99% Xeon CPUs the desktop kids who are not affected get a panic attack ...
Cooling is not an argument either, both need water cooling anyways. Maybe the 3950X will be ok with a 360mm radiator, while you could go with a 480mm with the 7980XE, but then again who cares about 20$ more or less at this price point when you get additional performance and quad-channel?
Also anyone who can afford either of these CPUs could not care less about 5$ more or less on the eletricity bill. These are workstation/desktop CPUs, not server CPUs that are running 24/7 ...

Remember when intel laid off 12K because of their market dominance and slow progression? They all went to AMD
So that's why AMD went better by a long shot. Intel wasn't ready for this and they seriously miscalculated AMD getting close to their flagship CPU in benchmarks.

@BrianByonVEVO That's pure delusion right there. AMD is yet to beat Intel's single-core perf., the history shows. AMD has failed for 10 years straight to bring a convincing product for gamers, and continues to fail to this day. This video was literally all about the multi-core perf and pcie 4.0 throughput that everyone will be on next year, which applies to absolutely no one but content and media creators, whom are like a handful of people in the world. AMD has said it many times they have zero interest in gaming and just want to get into the commercial sector.

@Warm Soft Kitty ok jewtel shill
Warm Soft Kitty Warm Soft Kitty I meant superior in terms of versatility- intel only outshines AMD In gaming, barely. Many users like myself use their rigs for production and other productivity. Unless you are strictly gaming, AMD is the superior product and even then only a minority truly value those extra FPS you get from an i9-9900k - so most fiscally conservative gamers will opt for AMD.
@@fiftyfuckingfeet he kind of has a point. When it comes to performance PCs then 90% of people will use Intel as AMD simply cannot compare in any way. Price for performance always goes to AMD and that's why they sell more, fewer people want to pay comparatively extortionate prices for Intel
