I'm a descendant of one of the brother's of Captain Richard Morris family (the last Morris coat of arms featured) from Tintern Abbey, Monmouth, Monmouthshire Wales. Richard fought alongside Cromwell in Ireland @1650. Because Cromwell's Republic was drawing to an end (to be replaced by Charles II) and he was falling out of favor, Captain Richard Morris was advised to leave England and head to the colonies. He had land in Barbados. He married a wealthy widow in the mid to later 1600's.. After some years, they sold all their land and moved to the newly named New York City (formerly New Amsterdam) taken over from the Dutch where he bought 2,000 acres of land in what became the Bronx. He called his estate Morrisiana. My direct descendant arrived in Savannah Georgia in 1733 and settled in Chester South Carolina. His son fought in the Revolutionary War in the South Carolina Militia. The Morris coat of arms I have is completely different from the one you're featuring.
Neat! William Morris, my ancestor, said he was born on January 1, 1722, in Liverpool. The story he passed down is that when he was 12, he got onto a ship just to look around and he didn’t notice it had left for America before it was too late. And the captain wouldn’t turn the ship around. And the ship that brought him here wasn’t going straight back to England, so he was raised by a kind merchant in Philadelphia. He ended up being a rather interesting character in Revolutionary America. I can’t figure out his ancestry. It’s a fun journey regardless.

So many damn John Morrises. Hell, my brother’s name is John Morris. Are there are non-Anglo Morris coat of arms?
There are some Maurices in France.
@@CoatofArmsDatabase There is a Morris coat of arms in Germany.
I need to do more research but I believe I’m apart of the German or Irish side. Over talk I’ve heard growing up.
There’s is a lot of Johns and Richards in my family too though. Haha
