I've never worked in a shop where people turn on each other when it's slow! Everyone just buckles up and you work on getting more work in, either for yourself or your colleagues.
when you have to use half of your income to pay for a shared room, at least in spain salaries are 1000 and rooms 500, you are not thinking on use the little savings you have to get tattooed
lmao if you're charging 400+ (cash aswell) a day you should have savings for slow times. a 9-5 gets you about 90 a day so crying about how slow christmas time is in a shop is cringe. earning more than trade workers sooooo (not including apprentice tattooers obviously)
The deal is it's not fair to compare at all. If you specialize in your own style and don't just do whatever walks in - you're less likely gonna find clients for, let's say, 20 days of work in a month on a constant basis. Also consider time that you need to put to learn this pretty specific skill (also a good thing to have decent background in drawing or whatever else visual stuff before you get to skin) and how expensive disposables are these days+how much shops charge tattooers. And keep in mind that tattoos aren't a necessity, but an art aka luxury item that you get for life if done right, and such things don't really fit into 'overcharging' concept ever. Btw 400$ for a full day doesn't sound expensive at all anywhere, especially in the US
toxier - new word unlocked thanks, kirk 💯

What trade makes $90 a day? As an apprentice carpenter I make $200+ . That’s as an apprentice… journeymen can make much much more.
