Karen's voice is is incredibly versatile... from resonating low notes in ballads to these delightful, soaring, joyful ones.... silky smooth and clear as a bell!
I really appreciate this live performance. I get to watch Karen Carpenter's drums skill! I like the message in lyrics, the idea that we're not perfect. Love is surrender - one of my favorites.
When we first met Karen she was a shy teenage girl, just discovering her talent. We all got to see her grow up and learn to blossom that gift she had. She always had that charisma and “star” appeal. And the tv cameras just loved Karen. Seemed very natural for her to become that superstar she was. Such a tragedy for all when she passed. But still to do this day, every time I hear her voice, it still touches me the way it’s suppose to. She’s so very loved and missed. I think she knows that now! 💜💜
For all of the other stuff I listen to, I just keep coming back to Carpenters tracks over and over, just great songs and some of the best harmony arrangements I have ever heard. Super post, 1 love still.
Karen died in 1983 just shy of her 33rd birthday. Imagine all of the music she could've made and all of the unsung songs we'd have dancing in our heads if she hadn't died so young. It's staggering and so sad.
All true, but I don't focus on that. Instead I celebrate the legacy she left us. She was immortal by age 21, anything beyond that was gravy, and I like 10 years of gravy.
This was our "sing in" , run on stage song for Hillside Jr. High Swing Choir, in 1975! Love it to death. Thank you, Mr Sanford and all my friends. J. Durtschi, amazing pianist, miss u much my friend, chamber music colleague, college roommate, and Best Man. Eric C., "huahh" awesome bass, now heart surgeon, Kip B, Carrie R., Gina, my choir "gf", Craig, and so many more. Most of all, dear Karen Carpenter, whose amazing voice filled my heart for all these years, RIP Karen.
Karen and Richard were very particular about making sure their live performances sounded exactly like the original recordings. This album cut ( I believe was the B-side of “We’ve Only Just Begun”) is a perfect example of their dedication and work ethic.

+Ilove Everyone Yeah but unfortunately, she was removed from her drums anyway, because, she was short. She was only 5 feet 2 and a half. The drums obscured her appearance from being seen from the audience, and there was a greater demand for her singing . Someone called her fat, because he or she was jealous of her talents, or because he (if it was male) was trying to impress or make his jealous girlfriend happy, or because she didn't have the figure of a model. Can't please everyone all the time.
+sweetlife031 Celebrities actually lie about their height, just to make themselves appear taller than they actually are. She SAYS she's 5'4", but in actual fact she was a little less than that. I believe it her height, that made her more sensitive about her weight, and the shape of her body. If she was 5'8" or 5'9" or even 5'10" (which is average for a man), she would not have had this issue.
+richard galerani Ironically this was the song that they were playing in the docudrama, 'The Karen Carpenter Story', when they showed her being removed from the drums. The scene was when Richard was getting Karen to test the emcee mike, and then was setting her up to be out a the front, while get the two managers to have a look at it.

she is the best

unreall!!! I just love this song. KAREN you will live 4ever!!!!
Her drumming is so much a part of her musically that she can let her voice soar as well. It's as natural as breathing...

her voice touches my soul
Every performance was perfection. That is why her nickname was one take Karen. She is terribly missed.

Absolutely amazing voice. Absolutely amazing voice. Love you, Karen.

@@TheLarryBrown, that's exactly what I'm doing. Being grateful for what I have is definitely better than wishing for something I'll never get.
The Carpenters had two siblings, Karen and RICHARD. Why does everyone always forget about Richard and only focus on Karen?
@@darrenmiles-morland8038true, but there is no longer Carpenters as a sibling team that can make songs like these without Karen...
Strange I press like on your comment and it hit the #33 in likes. She is missed. Yes, that has come to mind, too.
Best voice ever on the planet.
I'm love hip hop and r&b....this song has a vibe of of both..the beat is fire to me
Good lord she sounds beautiful.
And looks...
And... and... at all!
Me, as a Heavy Metal fan, i love Karen Carpenter and her voice!...
Metal Heads have good taste 👍
same

Karen is the one and only ... and there will never be like her ... ever
Anyone who doesn’t love The Carpenters doesn’t understand music
Personally I agree with you, but nothing can please everyone. That's why God also made The Beatles.
Love this song and cried my eyes out at Cynthia Gibb in The Karen Carpenter story. She died shortly before my father did. 😪😪😪
Eles são maravilhosos e belas músicas 😍 Karen era maravilhosa
Eu concordo. Karen tem uma voz tão linda e ela é uma baterista incrível!
voice of an angel
two minutes and six seconds is not enough. i wish it was a 3 minute song. oh well, replay.
Just play it twice. You're welcome.
Just like her life, way too short. "The brightest candles, burn the shortest".
Algún día vas a leer este mensaje, te voy a estar esperando.
How cool is this? Great version!

Love Is Surrender is on the B-side of Top Of The World. I've got a copy of that single among my record singles.
love you karen
She was a Queen
Karen an angel, Richard a genius
Richard is one of the top five pop arrangers, all time
Exactly!
The farther away we get from this, the worse the world gets, until it ultimately collapses.
Perfect harmonies
Most performances of this song used the soundtrack from the record. This one is a fresh recording, not the record.
Superbe! Je découvre que maintenant les Carpenters! Une voix magnifique et une musique superbe! Quel talent!
This song followed "Help" in their Concert. We heard the ending chord as the video started.
Karen was indescribably talented! 😎🐠😍💯

I love you Karen!!!!! For me you¨re still alive.
What? A version of this song... where Richard didn't sing that little part about everybody being brothers? (adds this video to my collection)
I love this song
Sounds like a hit for me
Brilliant, almost better than the recording... in fact it is better!
I miss Karen ! And those were the days, my friend !
Damn was good!
I love the carpenters
hermosa cantante, hermosa, banda, hermosa musica
Opino lo mismo.
fantastic !
A LIVE version? Oh this is awesome!
Live BBC 71 :)
Live !!! - how come there are no leads for the guitars ?
Eu, como fã de Heavy Metal, adoro essa música!
Talk about love
How it makes life complete
You can talk all you want
Make it sound good and sweet
But the words have an empty ring
And they don't really mean a thing
Without love you are not to be found
You are not to be found
For love is surrender
You must surrender if you care
You must surrender if you dare
Shout about love
Then the wars will all end
You can shout "we're all brothers",
And even pretend
But you can't cover up the past
Just pretending will never last
Without love you are nothing at all
You are nothing at all, huh
For love is surrender
You must surrender if you care
You must surrender if you dare
For love is surrender
You must surrender if you care
You must surrender if you dare
Dare!
Karen looks beautiful.
AWESOME❤❤❤
💜💜💜 amazing💜💜💜
Wish she lived
Que hermosa canción :D ¿podrías subtitular las bacharach david de los carpenters?
WOW LOVE YA KAREN
She was amazing that song was amazing but it neeeded another verse and chorus was too short
Not angel, she is an godess.
Immortal for sure.
How did she get her hair up that high?
With her hair done up like that Karen looks like Barbara Feldon.
yes agree with you
Amor é redenção
no aparece el subtítulo
Do you know Ralph Carmichael?
Richard looks high
He is. On love.
Karen's Gorgeous you can't even see that she is ill
Because she was healthy here in '71. Her dieting started in 1975.
She wasn’t sick at this point. That came after 1975.
😂 nunca vi los subtitulod 😅
she really did belong out front out from behind those damn drums. she was too good looking not to be the front man. oops, front person
+richard galerani That's what caused her problems to start..when someone called her a fat girl...

Lipsynching. Find the real Carpenters live tracks. Less perfect but unforgettable.
In this song she is singing, no lipsync
cool haircut !
