Water pollution:-
Water pollution can be caused by a variety of factors, including:
1. Industrial waste: Industries release large quantities of toxic chemicals and heavy metals into water bodies, which can have a devastating impact on aquatic life and the ecosystem.
2. Agricultural activities: Pesticides and fertilizers used in agriculture can find their way into water bodies, causing contamination and affecting aquatic life.
3. Sewage and wastewater: Sewage and wastewater from cities and towns can contain a range of pollutants, including bacteria, viruses, and chemicals.
4. Oil spills: Accidental spills of oil from ships or offshore drilling operations can have a catastrophic impact on the marine environment, killing aquatic life and damaging ecosystems.
5. Landfills and littering: Trash, garbage, and other solid wastes can end up in water bodies, polluting them with plastics and other non-biodegradable materials.
6. Atmospheric deposition: Air pollution can also contribute to water pollution, as pollutants such as sulfur and nitrogen oxides can be deposited into water bodies via rain or snow.
