In this video, I discuss the difference between producers and looters, and how Bitcoin incentivizes more producers and fewer looters.
Producers are inventors, creators, entrepreneurs, craftsmen, farmers, ranchers, carpenters, programmers, teachers, engineers, etc. who provide goods and services or work for businesses that provide goods and services that real people actually desire.
By contrast, looters steal things. Looters are people who break into your house or car and take things, or trick you into accidentally sending them money, etc.
There are other types of looters:
"Licensors" are people who take away your natural human right to do something (like drive a car, or cut someone else's hair) and then sell that right back to you in exchange for an annual extortion payment called a "license."
Another group of looters are the people who try to force you to buy something or do something that you don't want to buy or do.
Central banking is the looters' greatest invention ever. Central bankers make money at the press of a button, while you need to work for your money. Central bankers print up the same money for free and then use it to fund your oppressor (the federal government, with all of its violence, extortion, blackmail, and racketeering).
Bitcoin is the Great Shield, gifted to us by Satoshi himself, in order to help us to protect ourselves from the looters, the rent-seekers, and the other enemies of a just society that is built on the principles of freedom and voluntary exchange.

That's a sharp observation. Governments often claim to create jobs, but in reality, they primarily redistribute resources taken from the productive sector of the economy through taxation and regulation. This redistribution can stifle innovation and entrepreneurship, the true engines of job creation. In this sense, what governments often "produce" isn't new opportunities or wealth but rather a system of control and dependency, funded by what many view as legalized theft.
When governments focus on expanding their reach rather than fostering an environment where individuals and businesses can thrive independently, they inadvertently suppress the very forces that drive real economic growth. The wealth and jobs that could have been created in a freer, less regulated environment are often lost to bureaucracy and inefficiency.
By recognizing this, more people may start to seek alternatives to centralized control, embracing decentralized systems that allow for true economic freedom and innovation. These systems empower individuals to create value and jobs without the heavy hand of government intervention, ultimately leading to a more prosperous and independent society.

I’m a “recovering Canadian.” Thankfully, I was able to achieve asylum by escaping in the late 90’s. I’ve watched from afar as my family have become “properly conditioned” into “good” citizens. I’ve never seen government programming so powerful as I have in Canada. (Most) Canadians are proud-adopters of the propaganda campaigns and use non-violent public controls (shaming, patriotism, etc) to force unabiding citizens back toward the mean. Not only are they unarmed, they’re “proudly unarmed.” 😮 This is government control, executed PERFECTLY. It’s really a masterpiece in manipulation.

Once you understand money and finance you realize its god like power to create prophesy, either with black mail rings to make people in power to make it true or to pay for history and research to record the "truth". Not an ocean of tears not all the guns in the world can transform those pieces of paper in your wallet into the bread you will need to survive tomorrow. Those pieces of paper, which should have been gold, are a token of honor-your claim upon the energy of the men who produce. Your wallet is your statement of hope that somewhere in the world around you there are men who will not default on that moral principle which is the root of money."

Books like Atlas Shrugged put the reader into a reality where creators can achieve success against great odds simply by the power of their minds and integrity to be unwilling to compromise them. It's easy to forget while reading these that the looters and producers don't actually exist within the same systems at all, but Ayn Rand knew that and therefore said "Those who fight for the future live in it today." And the converse is that those who fight for authoritarianism do live in that even if only in their mind, ethics, morality, and other actions.

People that produce things do not owe anything to society for their income. They have already provided a good or service. The only legitimate role of government is to regulate collisions in any relevant space which is why we have stop signs, and laws on private property. We need to pay for those expenses. I am not sure why government services are different than any other. We do have toll roads and tolls on bridges which is the legitimate way to collect those fees. To the extend one want s welfare system is the only thing that does not follow these obvious economic principles.

How does fundamental research fit into these categories? Researchers are producers, but the utility of their work often isn’t immediate. It can take a long time before their findings lead to results that can be monetized. More often than not, it’s the combined contributions of many researchers that ultimately lead to something practical, not just isolated efforts. For example, we wouldn't have the chips in our phones and computers without early fundamental research in quantum mechanics. Similarly, today's advances in machine learning have roots in the basic research from the 1950s and 60s. Much of this kind of work is done in universities, which, with few exceptions, rely heavily on government funding, directly or indirectly (and that includes private universities too!). In this sense, they could also be seen as dependent on public resources, and thus looters. Companies rarely fund basic research today, due to the uncertain and distant commercial returns. The era of wealthy benefactors, common in the 18th and 19th centuries, is long gone, snd perhaps completely unsustainable today. How can Bitcoin help?

Hi Mathew been loving the content as of late. I need more help to re-wire my brain. Not just financially but my thinking as well. Could you supply us with more reading materials and schools of thought so I can properly research having a more independent and decentralized way of life? The internet has been “fixed” to where research on these topics are buried unless you know exactly where to look.

Any chance you could address Whitney Web’s critique of Bitcoin as some form of nefarious Trojan Horse.
I have serious doubts about her motives and who maybe providing her funding.

Wow loved this video! I was wondering what your thoughts were about a possible recession after fed cut if we're not in one already. Bitcoin hasn't faced one yet except for being born in one. How do you think it will react? What do you think of the 16-year cycle that most assets undergo ...is it possible that Bitcoin avoids this downturn because of its conception and protocols? Thanks Matt 😊!!

The government and the federal reserve are like the old timey taboo gangsters who come into your little family owned shop every month and tell you that your rent has doubled and then help themselves to anything they want without paying and force you to say thank you to them for all they do for you and your family, then smash up your store before they leave, telling you they will see you in a month, still smashing your stuff on the way out the door-

I would love to see a video on practical, doable steps lawmakers could do to abolish the Fed and if you believe anyone has the stomach to actually follow through with it, what kind of political environment would we need to see in order for that to happen. Would this create a monetary vacuum where politicians could come up with something even more nefarious in it's place

Mathew, I have seen charts/pies/etc that show current Bitcoin distribution. And under those, I see people comment on and discuss how the ETF's and big holders like MSTR/Saylor already own "a lot" of the supply. That, on top of how much they continue to buy. I've noticed people say that Bitcoin isn't as decentralized as we thought. I don't agree, but I can see what they mean. That did make me think though, as more time passes without mass Bitcoin adoption, could the percantage of supply held by those previously mentioned grow so big compared to individuals, that it does become problematic in whatever way that may be?

I have a question: i am not through the video yet, I stopped where you argue to be forced to pay for a war you do not stand behind - because that kind of bothers me too.
What would, in your mind, legitimize the spending?
    - Would you like a tax system where you are forced to pay taxed but you could allocate the usage yourself? (could be implemented via crypto)
    - Would you accept the tax if you undoubtedly know that it is a majority vote of the population (akin to a more direct democracy)? (using a crypto-based voting system that is verifiable)
I dont see many other alternatives (additional hypothetical solutions), however in both cases: what prevents the media from manipulating the people to still do what government wants them to do?
I truly see no good path forward for democracy even with crypto. Most people need a leader, they dont think for themselves and follow blindly. Also, half of the population has a lower than average intelligence and they vote too. If you are able to just manipulate the stupid, combined with the noisy behavior of the less stupid, you basically can always construct a majority for anything given the right manipulation. I would even argue that the number of people resistant to media manipulation is far far less than 50%.

    • @teatowel11
      @teatowel11 17 днів тому

More direct democracy would be better.
Abolishing parties alltogether and instead just having working groups for particular issues.
You still have representatives but they contribute to the working groups for the issues relevant to their electorate to produce the legeslation and promote it before a direct vote (replacing the senate).
In practice, many issues would have 2 or more conflicting working groups but it allows representatives to take a stance on each issue rather than everyone being split on party lines.
This could mean two representatives are in the same working group for one issue and opposing working groups on another.

At some point you have to commit to accept supporting a concensus you may disagree with but i think we can do better in how we establish a concesus and what the threshold is.
For things like war and very burdensome legislation, you want a high threshold (supermajority).
The default position should be for government not to intervene.
I believe Elon has suggested automatic sunsen clauses and a lower threshold required to remove a law then to implement it.
These seem like good ways to combat government creep.
I hope Matthew and others agree with these ideas.
