Beautiful! My grandmother was born in Tilsit in 1878. My mom always told me stories about East Prussia and about her visits as a child. To bad we could not have gone to visit together.

A really nice video and nice music, accompaning the history in it. There is also lying so much tragedy in it.

Thankyou for the reply. I saw that you already gave this information one month ago. I was in Sovietsk 3 times. It is always pleasant to visit the town.
This is indeed a very nice video.
    Best wishes Henrik

    Hello,
This is a very nice video, which attributes Tilsit and Sovietsk at the same time. Thank you indeed for that. It was and has agin become an interesting city.
Which music is it that we are hearing on this video ?
    Yours sincerely
    Henrik Karl Nielsen

All those old German buildings are so sad and neglected. Just like Königsberg and Memel, Tilsit should still be part of Germany. "Kaliningrad Oblast" is just a false Soviet name for this part of Germany.

Согласна с Вами - но этот Возврат будет тяжёлым бременем для того, чтобы радоваться. Я родилась в Тильзите. На моих глазах уничтожалась архитектура - я рыдаю вместе с людьми, которых выгнали с этой территории.

Reply to samnjoe97 - I forgot that East
Prussia was a province, not a state. That
is why I didn't mention the areas from
several other provinces that went to
Poland after the war. As we know, regions
of those provinces east of the Oder-
Neisse Line went to Poland after the war.
In 1914 Germany launched a war of
    aggression that became the most
destructive war in human history, up to
that point. Then only 25 years later
Germany was on the march of conquest
    again.

@januschau No. It was once free Prussian town, then Germans occupied it and after that Russians occupied it.

Reply to Sonderbarr- As WWI approached,
Belgium clearly declared its neutrality. As
such, Germany's invasion of Belgium, as
part of its plan to expedite the invasion of
    France, was blatant aggression. German
occupation of Belgium from 1914 to 1918
included many atrocities & other heinous
acts that have been documented by many
    historians. German actions against
Belgium are some of the reasons
    historians have typically placed more
blame upon Germany than upon others.

@LoneTinaja Nazism was a terrible regime. The same as communism. No more and no less. So the Soviet Union fell Tilsit is quite paradoxical. A totalitarian regime ended. And replaced it the next.
(well it's still East Prussia. There is nothing changed)

Continuing on- That war of aggression
became the most destructive war in
human history, causing the loss of many
tens of millions of lives, with Germans
    committing enormous numbers of crimes
    against humanity, murdering many
millions of human beings. Germany was
very fortunate that the Allies didn't partition
all of it & distribute the parts to its
neighbors. The Allies would have been
fully justified in doing so in order to
prevent a 3rd attempt by Germany.

No, yes I did, yes the Versailles Treaty in part caused WW2, but Germans voting for undiluted fascism in 1933 must also be considered, and the role in parties like the DNVP in bringing the NSDAP must also be considered.

Your reply & your channel comments show typical neo-Nazi hate. In
response to my comments of fact you spew baseless, neo-Nazi style
personal insults. Do you have a family connection to Tilsit or elsewhere in
the former East Prussia? What nation are you a citizen of? What neo-Nazi
organizations are you a member of or support?

My father's family lived in East Prussia for
centuries. Some of them lived in Tilsit
through WWII. Some were killed in E.P. as
the war was ending. Nazi Germany
wreaked more destruction upon the world
than any other nation in human history. As
such, the Allies would have been fully
justified if they had partitioned all of
Germany, with the parts going to the
    surrounding nations. Germany was very
fortunate that East Prussia was the only
state that went to any Allied nations.

(Continuation of comment) And there were very large numbers
of Nazi war criminals Germany failed to prosecute before they
died. Because of their very unsatisfactory effort Germany will
forever bear the black stain of dishonor
