    This place was was terribly organized when we got our dog a year ago. Checked as soon they opened and had to wait 2.5 hours before they would allow us to see 1 dog. Just one dog. Had to get back in line to see a 2nd dog. And they wondered why they were so overcrowded? All the while there were plenty of employees sitting around saying it wasn't there job to help. The whole experience was sad and frustrating.

    So what measures were taken to make sure that the puppy mill is shut down for good?
    How do we clear out puppy mills permanently in the future?
    I love animals but breeding purely for profit has to stop and only be done by those certified to do so. Costs of having furry children are as much as the real thing so now more than ever its a massive responsibility to own a pet.

    • @catherinelw9365
      @catherinelw9365 3 місяці тому +3

      That's because people let their pets destroy the apartment. Landlords have to deal with piss soaked carpet, feces, chewed up doors, scratched paint, etc. It's the people who don't train their pets or give them outlets for their energy which becomes destructive who cause the increase in costs.

    Glad to see the community stepping up. I got my current dog from the animal foundation 12 years ago. I was hoping they would stop being a kill shelter but I’m still trying to understand why they keep running out of space? It’s a huge facility and maybe it needs better management and over site from the county/city.

    Fabulous results and bravo to adopters. Shut down backyard breeders and puppy mills .Outlaw sales of pets online ,in newspapers or at stores. Pass laws about licensing pets or big fines and stiff penalties for abuse or abandonment. And free neutering vans sent out to poor neighborhoods with incentives for complying.

    No so many animals are going to shelters because low cost spay and neuter programs have disappeared and people have stopped spending the money they have on doing that because they can’t barely afford to feed themselves much less afford to take their pets to the vet. The price of veterinary care has quadrupled in my area and I have had to forego getting my dog care especially since they took half my income and I am permanently disabled and lost my health insurance. I have never been struggling so much and I may end up homeless with my pet soon. But our celebrities are doing great.

    It sucks that we cant take every one of them home! We need a community of people who can take in these animals, not just a few people. You don’t want to hoard animals, but give them the space and attention each and every one of them needs. I know, easier said than done. It takes money and time, and most of the people who truly care have neither the money or the time because they work 9-5.

    To the lady saying the animal that she bonded with was gone...you did not interact with them!!! My last dog I adopted was at the bottom- rock bottem of the list. The first two where out with medical issues. I choose 3 to interact with... one hated music on the radio and would attack you while drive- hard pass. The other was ADD. But the staff was surprised that he didn't charge the windows of the room to attack passers by. I'm guessing extreme protection issues. I'm pack leader, my pack respects that. Last, the one I pick on a lark...my perfect dog. She reminded me of my first dog in so many ways. She is my second best dog, nothing surpass my first.
    So I am saying do not judge a dog before you meet and interact with them for 20 to 30 minutes at a minimum

    This is an avoidable problem. Fix your pets, adopt dont buy etc. There's an overwhelming sea of dogs coming in to shelters and abandoned on the streets constantly. Yet people keep producing more and more and others support them - even though it's costing animals lives, health (pyometra, mammory gland tumors), other people's money (taxes, donations, volunteers). Its beyond crisis level. It's unmanageable and trying to house all of the poor dumped animals or euth'ing is not the solution. Need to address the root cause. Spay neuter. Adopt dont shop. Again, when are we going to require a license to own a dog or cat?
    Stories like this are literally constant, from almost every city in America.
    But 50% of people think it’s “mean” or “unnatural” to spay or neuter their pets.
    So they dont, then they say stupid crap like, “you need to let them have at least one litter so they can be happy”.
    THAT is what creates the problem in the first place.
    If we required a license to own a pet, then you would be in serious trouble if you were suddenly responsible for creating yet another unwanted litter of pets that are going to end up in the shelter.
    Why do so called “dog lovers” refuse to stop creating unwanted pets? It’s selfish. They just like playing with cute little puppies to make themselves feel good, but then the dogs end up homeless.
