Bucket List Flight to Svalbard | SAS Plus A320NEO

- Join me on an incredible once-in-a-lifetime trip up to Longyearbyen, Svalbard. I’m flying SAS on the lovely A320NEO from Stockholm to Longyearbyen via Oslo and Tromsø today. I’ll show you the views and the service from all the flights but wait until we start to get further north and the views become completely stupendous. I’ll also reveal my top 5 most flown airlines ever (I asked you what you thought they were in a previous video and most of you got them wrong, except one!) and I’ll give you a little info about the Svalbard Treaty and the intriguing, very unusual political status that gives Svalbard. (Oh and if you make it far enough in to the video I’m doing a giveaway so be sure to look for that if you want to win an amenity kit.) All in all, one of my top flight experiences ever, just because of the views! (SAS was pretty decent too). Anyway, it’s all in the video!
Seeing Svalbard from the air was one of the most incredible things, and it only got better over the three weeks I was there. Stay tuned for a video about my experience doing an artist residency onboard an Arctic class sailing ship.

Nice video and I love the snowy views you get flying around Norway in winter.
My most flown Airline is easily British Airways since I'm British, though I wish it wasn't as there are so many better airlines out there. All that is to say, Qatar Airways have the best amenity kit!
Thanks for the comment and congrats on being the first entered into the giveaway contest!
Pre covid, Vistara and Air Asia India were my most flown airlines..
From just the looks of it, SAS did have a solid product on short hops. Looking forward to the next video, its been quite a wait since seeing it on your ig stories 😅
Yeah I’ve got a big lag time these days! Too many edits to do 😂
Really nice video, Gabriel.
Interesting fact, I didn´t know that Longyearbyen was the northernmost airport with commercial service. I would have bet that it was Pituffik in Greenkand (THU/BGTL) with the occasional Air Greenland flight. After your video I checked it and both Pituffik and Qaanaaq are slightly southern (if you can consider that latitudes south...).
My most flown airline is Iberia, but I did have a nice experience this summer flying the Air Transat A321 NEOs across the Atlantic. It feels a bit different flying a narrowbody across the ocean, but I can recommend the experience.
Thank you! I just finished crossing the Atlantic in both directions on narrowbodies (Azores Airlines and Atlantic Airways) for Flightradar24. Definitely an interesting experience!
Love the video, Gabe! Definitely put Tromso on my list from your last video. Delta is my most flown airline. Would love a Qatar kit!
Thank you!
Great shot of the second take off where you zoom out to capture the shadow as you take off.
Thanks!
Swiss is my most flown airline. I love the arctic north and your video was fantastic
Thank you!!!
Most flown airline will be Transavia for me on short haul. Looking forward to one day fly on a widebody for a long haul flight! Awesome video again 👍
Thanks! Still haven’t flown Transavia.
Great video! My top five are Alaska, Delta, American, USAir and National (LAS-based) in that order. If I were to win, I would like the Finnair amenity kit. Happy flying!
Thanks a lot! Finnair preference noted.
Hi Dana, congrats, you're the winner of the giveaway! Send me a message on Instagram @gabeleigh and let me know where I should send it.
@@airedition Seriously??? Cool!
Surprisingly, one of my better flight experiences was on SAS (pre-covid). Unfortunately I had to go out of my way to fly with them, and now that I think about it, maybe that’s what made it feel memorable.
To answer your sneaky mid-report giveaway question. Most flown airline is probably American (going by segments flown). If we're talking distance, probably Frontier (given as I live between two of its busiest markets). And I would say, Qatar Airways is the better one. Although I have a fondness towards Finnair’s because of how tastefully designed it is.
Oh wow, Frontier for most distance flown, that sounds like it might not be the most fun - or are the bad reports I've heard about them exaggerated?
Really enjoying your videos Gabe, my most flown Airline is Aer Lingus out of Dublin (DUB), keep up the good work
Nice! Can you believe I've only flown them once? Thanks for watching!
gonna have to recreate this on MSFS now
My most flown airline would be Singapore Airlines. Since I was a baby flown them to Indonesia most of the time. Also I wanted to ask how do you zoom out during recording?? Because when I record with my Iphone I cannot zoom out😅. Thanks for the great video as always!!!
Thanks! Maybe the zoom out while recording is an iPhone Pro feature? Not sure!
My most flown airlina has to be either SAS or Norwegian. This is my childhood airliner i’m flying when i visit my family
👍👍
My most flown is (I think) Qantas, but of flights that I wasn't a small kid for, it'd be Singapore or Jetstar
Interesting! And what’s your opinion of Jetstar? I haven’t heard good things.
@@airedition Was only on short (1h) flights mostly, but they're fine. Wasn't delayed though, I have heard some horror stories about that. Was best when I got a whole row to myself!
Sadly I don't get to fly all that often but now that I think of it, for a not very frequent flyer, there were quite a few different companies. Most was with TAP, but already tryed SATA, Iberia, Ryanair, Easyjet, IcelandAir, Air France and Aer Lingus.
That’s a pretty good list!
Hej. Before the pandemic l flew BAś 747 between LHR - JFK back and forth like uber. l miss the queen of the skies in BAś livery.
Me too!!
Well, if you feel like going more North by jetplane you can book a Finnair flight from Helsinki to Tokyo (HND) at the moment! They have their A350s go over the pole due to the current airspace restrictions. I guess that wouldn't technically be a more northbound destination though haha
Nope you have to actually land 😂. Did you see the 350 cockpit video I did on that flight for FR24? (HND-HEL)
@airedition Oh that was you?! I had no idea! Yeah I did, and I have the flight booked in November for my flight from Tokyo to Brussels!
westjet!
Never flown them!
The pilot just wanted to land the plane on the last flight, hard landing.
The runway was wet, there was on and off precipitation and cold temperatures, this is standard practice to plant the airplane firmly on the ground in conditions like that.
Flying Norwegian as primary company
no deluxe class
horrorful meal service. no champagne
