I don’t think it’s a case of Labour not knowing anything about farming, I believe it’s a concerted effort to stop all food being produced in this country, and then importing all food, this will bring about a zero carbon footprint by exporting all our carbon emissions to other countries, and then as has been said covering the farmland with solar. They have started this by imposing carbon tax on food production in this country but not imposing it on imported food.
Labour has completely screwed up with this inheritance tax on farmers, many family farms are asset rich but cash poor, this tax could bankrupt family farms.
What a sensible all be it Ex labour MP , Starmer is going to completely destroy Labour the old school labour MPs need to speak out to save the part! Thank you for protesting with the farmers 🙏
The Labour government's latest proposals, including burdensome regulations and policies that penalize farmers, threaten to devastate the UK’s agricultural sector. This is particularly concerning given the nation's current levels of domestic food production: 85% of our beef and veal, 82% of our poultry, 64% of our pig meat, and an impressive 114% of mutton and lamb. That 114% reflects not just self-sufficiency but also a surplus, allowing us to export lamb and support the UK economy. By waging war on farming, these policies risk reducing our domestic food production, driving up reliance on costly imports, and eroding centuries of careful land stewardship. This is not just a betrayal of our farmers but also a direct threat to the UK’s food security, leaving us at the mercy of foreign suppliers for basic essentials. It's the kind of short-sighted governance that only Westminster's most detached could deliver.

I truly wish we could remove this government from power.
You wouldn’t believe the amount of comments saying, “farmers should have to pay their fair share” and “they’ll just have to sell up then”. They just don’t understand what the farmers do, as well as producing food of course. The whole reason there hasn’t been this tax before, is because all family farms will disappear in 2 generations time. People dont realise what that will mean for everyone and the landscape of our country!
Why do we need solar panels on fields when there is a massive amount of roofs to fill and why are new buildings not having mandatory panels on their roofs. It's all a con that's why I'll bet Ed has invested in the echo field.
Since Blair got power and committing to bogus wars the Royal Air Force is the third of its previous size. In terms of frontline aircraft it is less than 25% of the number that it was in 1990
Labour are tearing up the greenbelt. The inheritance tax changes fits with that. A lot of farmland is going to rocket in value once they can build on it. The inheritance tax is a way of forcing farmers to sell up to developers instead of keeping and passing on in the family.
But train drivers aren't in the public sector train drivers are employed by private companies because thatcher in the 80's sold off all the National trains to private companies. So why are we paying for train driver's pay increase out of our taxes when the trains are completely owned by private companies?
Farmers are the big target in this tax budget , but any business with over £1 million in assets looking to pass on through inheritance to their siblings will be affected. There is also a knock on value to this also, with anyone connected to the farming industries also being affected. All this also knocks on to the consumer who pays if they can afford to. Taxed too much too heavily too soon, without a care for our great nation.
Instead of putting solar panels on farm land that use to grow food ..change the law that every new house that is build has solar panels on ...thousand of house are being built near me ...most of them haven't got one solar panel on them ...and labour say they are going to build 1.5 million house ...that could be a lot of solar panels
