Wonderful and informative video. I like your background in your house . For people who may not have enough time to wait for their passports when they travel to Nigeria, they can apply for express which costs more but comes out faster provided you have an active NIN. I also encourage people to do 10 year passport instead of 5 yr passport. However, it costs more to do 10 yr Nigerian passport.

I am in the UK and my Nigerian passport expired this year. I am not looking forward to going to Nigerian house just stress. When I am going on holiday will be using the expired passport. Returning I will use British passport so how will they know my passport is expired?
Because your british passport will not have a stamp for coming into Nigeria, They can ask for the document you entered the country with. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

Hey I'm in the USA. Can I get or is it easy to get visa-on-arrival in Lagos. The Nigerian embassy here in Washington DC is too slow in process visa application. They rarely even answer phone calls

Yes, there is no specification about the expiry date, only that it has expired, so you should be good.
My Nigerian passport is expired and I'm travelling to Lagos in a week. I have a valid Italian passport but I live in the UK (just recently got my UK citizenship but I have not applied for the booklet yet). I called Ethiopian airline and they said I can board the plane with my expired passport. So I wanted to travel with my expired Nigerian passport and come back using my Italian passport. Do you think it is feasible? I don't have time to get a travel certificate , especially if it's not stricly necessary.
You can get into Nigeria with an expired Nigerian passport as long as the airline will carry you to Nigeria. You can then apply for your nigerian passport in Nigeria. Showing proof of applying (even if it's not ready) can get you out of Nigeria, and of course, your Italian passport will get you to your destination when you leave Nigeria. My passport expired over 12 years ago and am thinking of getting a renewal or a visa. Am a US citizen but visiting for a week. Which is feasible a passport or a visa and how can I get a NIN
I think it depends on what you have access to where you are located. For example, I will have to travel to Ottawa to get a passport, but may be able to get a visa without travelling. There is also the option of a travel certificate. Please visit or call the Nigerian high commission in the US to understand what your options are. In any case you can travel to Nigeria with your expired Nigerian passport just make sure the airline is good with that. Thanks for watching.

I travelled UK to Nigeria in July with my expired 9ja passport with KLM. At the airport you will see a three massive posters saying " All expired passport welcome" No issues whatsoever with entry and exit. I have not not still renewed it.

@tayoademolue2901 @tayoademolue2901 I did not. You need to have a valid foreign passport to leave Nigeria. You could also try to have proof of payment for renewal of your Nigerian passport just to avoid any hassle from the Nigerian immigration folks on your way out. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

What if the passport has expired for more than 20 years. Can I still use it to travel?
I would say yes, as there is no mention of how long the passport has expired. Just make sure your airline is ok to fly you to Nigeria and when you get to Nigeria, make an attempt to renew and have proof even if you are not able to get a new passport, so you will not be harrased on your way out. @@funkek6018 I think if you have your marriage certificate, you should take all to the airline to confirm all is ok. As long as they are good to fly you to Nigeria, it should be fine. You can also try contacting Nigerian immigration just to be double sure.
