- In this video, I will be covering the style of Olivia Carolyn Pope, the main character of the show Scandal. The former communications director founded her own consulting firm “Olivia Pope & Associates” where she is noted to not just fix issues, but to fix lives with her team dubbed “gladiators in suits. ” Olivia is not only stylish, eloquent, glamorous, and charming, but also diligent, intelligent, perceptive, and beyond ambitious. To let us in on this, Lyn Paolo, the show's costume designer, has utilized high-end and accessible fashion to capture Olivia's state in a curated manner with a color palette that speaks directly to us as an audience. I'll be analyzing her most iconic and meaningful ensembles featuring high fashion garments from Proenza Schouler, Armani, and Vera Wang to Dior, Tom Ford, and Prada.
We will not only be viewing the impact of these looks in her world but the fashion impact her style has had in real life. This analysis will also delve into the art of power dressing to see how this way of dress can serve in relation to psychology and image curation. As for Olivia's work, this analysis is concentrated on the image component of consultation so that we have a better understanding of how she is able to improve the appearance, behavior, and communication style of her clients while setting down a path to will away a scandal as fast as they come to be. As the famous and often shortened Groucho Marx quote goes, “Behind every successful man is a woman, behind her is his wife.”

This is the video I didn’t know I needed. I am recovering from major surgery and wasn’t sure who I was anymore. In a former life I was dubbed the Olivia Pope of my professional circle. Then, I gave it up for something more. It’s nice to remember that time of life through an iconic, incredible character and her style.

Watching this show from beginning to end was fascinating when you paid attention to OP’s style evolution. All the characters had a style evolution, really. But OP’s style was truly iconic.

I absolutely love Olivia Pope's character and wardrobe. Definitely a wardrobe which I try to reenact when in the office, particularly during the autumn/winter. During the summer I prefer cute feminine dressers so I go from being Oliva Pope to Marilyn or Audrey :) That's what I love about fashion, it can be as versatile as the wearer wants it to be, it doesn't have to be one style of dress across the board day in and day out.
