- Old Kilpatrick is a town on the north shores of the River Clyde. It is also the point where the Antonine Wall started from. I went for a wander around the town.

I love what you do. I have had my memory refreshed by and learnt something new each time I watch one of your videos. Thank you.
Berenice Robertson thank you. I’m glad that you’re enjoying my videos. It’s always nice to hear from people like yourself
Just watched your video on Helensburgh and was led to this video. Wow! you brought back so many memories of when I was about 5 years old in the 60s. My Mother's Aunt and Uncle lived in Clynder and we had quite a few happy holidays there . I particularly remember crossing the Clyde on Toms Ferry before the Erskine Bridge was even started !! Also brought back memories of catching the Waverley from , I think , Helensburgh to Dunoon and then back. My main memory is how beautiful Scotland is .Time is due for another visit. Thank you for your videos
I’m glad to be of service, and I’m glad that I was able to bring back some very happy memories. Hopefully you’ll get to come over for a visit soon. Scotland is still as beautiful as ever.
The Twisted Thistle was originally called The Telstar - as far as I am aware this was Scotland's only historic communication satellite themed pub. I always enjoyed browsing their collection of historic space hardware which at one point included Intelsat 1, Sputnik and Echo 1. The landlord did attempt to build a launchpad in the beer garden and had even started to build a single stage to orbit launch vehicle before his plans were thwarted by those pencil-necked desk jockeys at West Dunbartonshire Council.
I didn’t know that. Thank you for the information
Hi, I lived in Old Kilpatrick for 20 years, right next to the Twisted Thistle pub, that was originally called the Tel Star, Macleans Chemist is right next to my mum's house!! 😀 😀
I enjoyed my wee visit.
i am a kilpatrick, i think my family moved from scotland to ulster sometime round 1820/30s,
A lot of my family came to Scotland, from Ulster as well. I do need to et back into researching my family tree.
@@AScottishOdyssey ive tried but sadly the i.r.a. blew up the census record i need in 1922 in dublin, i can only trace back to my great great grandparents, but nice to see a video of the clans land 👍👍👍
@@whitetroutchannel Yeah, researching Irish family trees can be difficult. A lot of information has unfortunately been lost. I’m glad that you enjoyed my video though.
@@AScottishOdyssey certainly did thanks 4 the upload 👍👍
@@whitetroutchannel you’re welcome
Old Kilpatrick is a village not a town
It felt more like a town to me. Aren't villages more rural?
