      Thank you! Yes I'm happy about it, too. Now I'm still gonna look into making custom extensions for other cars.

    I use my QuickJack all the time with my Cosworth and will use it on my Trans Am KITT project

    You can get extension pieces for the quickjack so you can work on longer vehicles

    • @MotorScotti
      @MotorScotti  Рік тому

      Yes, that's correct but even the extension is too short for my XF. I'm gonna need a custom made extension.

    Thanks for the review but i'm going to stick with my jack and jack stands .

      I agree. I prefer using ramps, floor jack and jack stands.

    • @MotorScotti
      @MotorScotti  Рік тому

      Why is that? Do you think it's too time consuming or not that save to use a Quickjack?

    • @SoGoYoko

      @@MotorScotti Safety is the answer. It actually most likely takes more time and effort to set up ramps, drive the car up on them, use the floor jack to raise the other end of the car opposite of the ramps, set up jack stands and then lower the car onto the stands. Common practice is never to rely on a hydraulic floor jack alone when working under a vehicle. For this reason, I always rest the vehicles weight on stands and ramps before working under it. That scissor lift you're using is no different to a hydraulic floor jack, except that it's powered, whereas the floor jack is operated manually. If I used the scissor lift you have, first I'd put jackstands under the vehicle at the appropriate hard points and then let the scissor lift down so that the vehicle rests completely on those stands. Second, I wouldn't want to hoist up a vehicle in such a restricted area. Very tight quarters. Just one of those scissor lifts fail while the car is up off the ground, there's very little space to go. But that's just me. I've been working under my 3rd gen Pontiac for over 30 years and I'm here today, in part because I practice safety precautions to the max. And I plan on wrenching under my 3rd gen safely for at least another three more decades.

      @SoGoYoko Good point regarding the tight space I have. 👍 However, as I've pointed out in the video the car is not relying on the hydraulics when resting. It's lifted with hydraulic pressure and than lowered and clicked in to a set position, where the weight is held by the metall arms. There is no pressure on the hydraulic system when it's clipped in position 1 or 2.

      @@SoGoYoko: Me too. For one thing I doubt my 3rd gen would clear the Quick jack (its pretty low) so I'd have to place the jack under the car when it was on spot . It reminds me of a body shop lift which doesn't allow much space to work under the car. It's not for everyone. In a shop that does many brake jobs it would be almost ideal .

    They should remove the word "quick" from this jack 😂 the process is more time consuming than manual jack 😂

      You're making a good point. 😁 They should replace the "quick" with "Idonthaveenoughspaceforareallift"jack.😉 Thanks for watching
