- Pilot Vlog 175. A three day trip that involves flying the Cessna Citation XLS to the Ocean Reef Club Airport and flying the the Citation M2 from Tampa to the Spirit of St Louis airport. All of the airline flying was on southwest.

WTH!!! I was looking for an explanation of some kind as to what happened to you,so what's the story Capt.you owe us an explanation please.I was sincerely concerned!!
Joe Thanks. I really appreciate your concern and I do owe you and others an apology for not making it clear that I was posting periodic updates on Instagram. UA-cam doesn't make it easy to do this. I've been busy and there have been changes at work and in my personal life that have taken up time. The changes in my life are nothing more than a time consuming inconvenience and will work out. I can still make videos and I'm making time to do that now but, not all of the flights are appropriate for this. Some of these flights are to medical centers and I don't make videos on any of these flights. Sadly, unless there's divine intervention on the scale of a miracle that won't end well. There are other flights I can't make videos on also. These are for much less serious reasons such as business considerations but, those restraints are only temporary. At a point in the future I'll be able to speak more on this.

Jim, thanks for your great content. Up early this morning watching a heavy overhead on approach to O’Hare. I learned to fly at VNY and got my other ratings in the LA area. I miss the front office since I lost my medical in 2000. Thanks again Captain!

Great video Captain Moonbeam! the runway at Ocean Reef Club was flooded bad! Glad that cleared up for you before leaving, they should fix that flooding problem by regrading.
Keep us updated on Jose's progress. That would be an inspiring side story; working on advancing his pilot's license, getting his A&P and still working on side jobs to make it all happen.

When I was growing up always wanted to be a pilot. With the passage of time and being unable to fulfill my dream , I started watching You Tube. I have thought about what type of pilot I would have preferred. Your job is pretty hectic at times but for the most part predictable. You are always flying to different destinations where as Airline Pilots fly the same route the majority of the time. If I was able to live my life over and become a Commercial Pilot, I would be very happy in the R/S next to you handling the radios and being able to do some flying! It's not about how much you make but how happy you are in your career!
Thanks James. There's a lot of truth to that last part. Before I was a pilot I was the manager of a store and my store was the highest profit store out 360 stores. I hated it and ran away to be a pilot. I watch flying videos also.

Hi Jim, welcome back! Do you go through airport security like other passengers in route to your various airplanes that you fly? Do you wear out a lot of socks pulling your shoes off at each check point:) Do they still do that? I haven't flown commercially since 2000 but had flown just twice a year to meetings with my past company. Some were nice but others were too long, boring, and circling in a holding pattern just to find a slot to land near Boston???
I still go through security but, I signed up for the known traveler program and that makes it faster.

We're just flying part 91. if you're doing 135 it's dependent upon the aircraft type and your operations specifications.

Is ILS available at unattended airports like Ocean Reef?
Ocean Reef doesn't have any approaches so it's strictly a VFR airport. But, it is private so you have to have VFR minimums and permission to land there.
So glad you are not that moonbeam in Sacramento.
