Bro see in 17th century, india was the biggest economy, richest country in terms of gdp, but in military, we were nothing, and result? We were colonized for more than 2 centuries, so let's learn from our history and not make the same mistake..
China had zero Aircraft Carriers till just 2011. India operating aircraft carrier since 1961. 50 years apart and China has marched ahead in this category too. Today after 10 years it has 3 carriers. 2 operational, one almost ready and 1 amphibious assault helicopter carrier as well. That's their manufacturing capability. INS Vikrant is at best a medium-medium weight category aircraft carrier. It's not even 50k tons displacement. Even UK where manufacturing has stagnated built 2 carriers almost simultaneously in the 65k tons category. Of course USA has 20 carriers out of which 11 are super carriers in the 100,000 to 107000 tons category. 20 carriers mind boggling. And just so that it doesn't scare other nations too much it doesn't consider the 9 out of the 20 as carriers which are the size of between Vikrant and Vikramaditya. It calls them amphibious assault ships. But they're as large as Vikramaditya. So yes 20 carriers in all for USA. China has openly stated it wants 10 carriers in its Navy and atleast 6 by 2030 or so. Highly possible. They'll barely take 2.5 to 3 years to float the carrier. We take 15 years to just think of an acquisition. Just one example the MMRCA for Airforce is pending since 2004. It's a bloody joke. There are many such examples actually. Minesweepers Helicopter carriers AWACS Refuellers and many more. And Indian Navy doesn't even have sufficient fighter jets to operate from both the aircraft carriers. And the INS Vishal on paper' since 2010.
Facts. The solution is improving GDP and allocating funds for innovation and technology. It will certainly take a long time before India can match china's manufacturing capability.
Since when The West wants India to succeed? Britain partitioned India and turned it into two separate countries - India and Pakistan. Turning brothers against brothers. Now, trying to be the enabler of the Indian armed forces in the event a hot war was to happen, India will be the first line of fodders as they have always been subservient to their former colonizer. The depth of the abyss, the heart of darkness that is the British Empire. They even shamelessly cozy up to the Empire of Japan wanting to work closely together in the containment of a prosperous, peaceful but rising China. All those murdered British Expeditionary Force soldiers among tens of thousands of other allied soldiers must be turning over in their final resting place and howling in disbelief how low the British empire has sunk. Just remember Pearl Harbour, Singapore, Hong Kong, Burma, Manila, Guam, etc. Lest we forget!
btw although I am from the West I am not from Britain also most of what you said is true British colonialism was particularly brutal to India It was also brutal to Africa and the caribbean where I am from But India has been independent Of the British many decades now and given that it is now the world's largest democracy also Among the world's top 5 military Also living beside a vicious neighbour to the north India should assert itself more in the World , the world is a safer place When a democratic country like India becomes a super power So the wish of all well thinking Citizens of the world is that India Should be stronger militarily .

What India really needs is an educated leader having common sense !!!
Minesweepers
Helicopter carriers
AWACS
Refuellers and many more.
