We join in union most er' night, Whilst the moon grows full in flight, 'Tis a unnaturally sublime rite, Man and woman frolic in the moon's light! The dancers allude a mortal's sight, Nary a soul bark, nay, nor bite! Pray, thou keep thyself bright, Man and woman frolic in the moon's light! Frolic in the moon's light! All souls doth feel both good and right, To behold such a sublime rite, Whilst all souls frolic in the moon's light! Aye, to play and ne'er fight, Anger alludes those in flight, 'Tis a unnaturally sublime rite, Man and woman frolic in the moon's light! Frolic in the moon's light! All souls doth feel both good and right, To behold such a sublime rite, Whilst all souls frolic in the moon's light! The dancers allude a mortal's sight, Nary a soul bark, nay, nor bite! Pray, thou keep thyself bright, Man and woman frolic in the moon's light! To frolic in the moon's light! All souls doth feel both good and right, To behold such a sublime rite! Whilst all souls frolic in the moon's light! Frolic in the moon's light! All souls doth feel both good and right, To behold such a sublime rite, Whilst all souls frolic in the moon's light! Frolic in the moon's light! All souls doth feel both good and right, To behold such a sublime rite, Whilst all souls frolic in the moon's light! Frolic in the moon's light! All souls doth feel both good and right, To behold such a sublime rite, Whilst all souls frolic in the moon's light!
I totally wish I'd found this last week! Would have been perfect for our D&D campaign. In my D&D campaign, the local tabaxi are worshipers of the local moon goddess. Unbenknownst to my players, they wandered into a group of tabaxi "on holiday" where they were about to celebrate a fertility rite. A monster attacked early on, and as they were cleaning up the area with the tabaxi, the bard joined in with the tabaxi who were playing music to lighten the mood and keep up morale. Them playing this is giving me visions of Rob Thomas & Santana playing "Smooth" and jamming.
Oh crap the witch hunter is here for a fight he dislikes dance and is uptight believes it's an supernatural rite but we were only prancing in the moonlight
I envy you for making this song before me because I adore it :-) But then again, I feel like it's much better than what my version would have been Excellent work
The cover version by Toploader does have a slower tempo and smoother sound so probably easier for medieval bards to adapt to their instruments. I love most versions of this song including this one. :)
Forsooth this is attributed to the villiens of yon borrough of Toploader, but all good Christianmen know this ballad belongs to his highness King Harvest!

I only comment in the hopes that the meme expands dong. This shit is amazing and you guys should really appreciate the work these guys put into their mixes. It's appropriating history. Maybe the next thing is the return of the 20's... I'm glad there's a reason to have faith in humanity again, at the very least
This is perhaps what caused the Dancing Plague in 1518. lol
I would also dance to plague if this was playing

That's more like the pioneer time period. Late 18th century.

The Anglo-Normans definitely danced in the moonlight to this back in 1090.
There is no end to covers or versions of this song. I love them all this especially. This is absolutely the most unique.
thank you for doing these my liege.
And thank you for tuning in!

Yon king of harvest's version was far better, knave.
Not the best title to say in front of a church.
